1001 Albums Summary

Strong, funky beat and groove that provides great listening for lovers of Jazz and introduces them to the world of Afrobeats. Each musician holds their own and brings a new element to the mix. And, of course, you can never go wrong with the legendary Ginger Baker.

The album reminds me a lot of The Clash, in that it takes punk structure but is not afraid to break out of the box with solos and strong percussion. Great listen.

Not gonna lie, was a bit bored. Nothing stood out and it didn’t feel like boundaries were pushed. But, it is obvious John Martyn has strong musicianship. If only he pushed further to build a more unique sound.

WOAH. I had heard of Frank Zappa, but I did not expect an album that answers the question of “What would happen if Led Zeppelin broke into the jazz scene?” Each song stood on its own and brought a new dynamic that highlight jazz and blues roots, while showing the similarities of these genres.

A concept album that feels like Sweeny Todd. Deserves a re-listen and strong lyrics / characters that is reminiscent of Pink Floyd or The Who.

Blends genres in a fascinating way (Disco and rock).
