I wish I could have listened to these without prior judgment!! This album’s use of strings feel like the strings that are sampled on Sibaleus bahahah, plus Elton’s classic plonky piano I always love.
I the diverse range of sounds I love so much in this album and it gives it a really cinematic feel! It’s got that classic 80s sound but surprisingly in a way that still hold up in modern music
Hmmmm yum yum yummmyyy. Love how certain aspects were drumming forward without it dominating the whole albumn. Plus themes of freedom and resistance that the lyrics capture slay alongside the very decadent and hectic instrumentals. Cool synth/organ vibe solo and lics plus ofc the lovelllyyyyy guitar solos. Especially in war of Armageddon. Normally annoyed by that waaaa waaa guitar tone but here it worked so well. Loved the drums in WoA too, like super janky but really drives it. Plus you know this girl loves a cowbell
Love how his singing is literally percussive. Especially in Wait until tomorrow. Loving the fusion of R&B, electric and blues influences. Little wing had such a cutesy guitar that I loved. Plus soooo slay the album is so diverse but flows super well from each song
Big slay. guitar is so amazing. It feels so so classic American blues, which is amazing against the vocals. Sekou oumarou one of my faves. Love love love how the albums gets more folky towards the second half, like Petit mertier.
I’m gonna be a hater. Ik that’s predictable but, to me this sounds like an album that’s pretending to be a good album. Idk what is it but the tone/style of guitar I find ✨horrible✨ Obvs I don’t like this style of music but I have was willing to look past it, but it wasn’t enough for me :(
Didn’t get very far thru it sorry
Super groovy and easy listening for me, would defs listen again. Saviour Farie is so pretty
Crazy that this was released 12 years ago. So so good, elite vocals and production whole way thru. So glad that this album made it onto the list bc I thought it would be too Gen Z coded. Especially love Monks, and bad religion and Pink Matter are goated songs, except Andre 3000s verse doesn’t add anything for me. This cutesy imagery based lyric writing normally doesn’t work for me but I feel like Frank makes it work so well
Super slay with so many cool things. Heheh yes so specific. Not really my style but I still really really enjoy and defs will listen again. Works rlly well as a whole album listen vs just individual songs
Loved it. Vocals and bass are based the whole way thru but not overpowering, melodic choices are so fun. I know ‘we are family’ is such a memey song but forgot how good it is bahahahah.
I don’t deserve to listen to an album this good.
Cool but a bit too gothy for me. But defs did enjoy listening to something unique, plus undoubted a good album
Pretty slay, would listen again
Love their unique sound. Especially annoyed the joke isn’t funny anymore and well I wonder
Didn’t seem very special for me
I couldn’t finish this
Loved this one, but didn’t expect to. Would a got a 5 but lyrics did have an essence of ✨misogyny✨ (ik it was the 60s)
Enjoyed this! This felt a little unpolished tho? Even accomodating for this style, it still seems that way? Also I’ve gotten used to really modern production so this was a bit jarring for me.
He puts so much pizazz and flair into his music it’s so slay
