I know it's a legendary album but it didn't land for me personally. I did like going "oh, this is THAT song" though.
Was really stuck between a 2 and a 3. On one hand, it felt like it was growing on me. On the other, it was a Bit Much. I could pretty much smell the haybales.
Yeah this ruled. The perfect pick-up if you're feeling a little down. Favourite song: I Don't Mind
yeah this was great actually, glad to see what all the fuss was about. Favourite song: Reelin' In The Years
Bangs, obviously, but so many of the tracks are never gonna get into my daily rotation because of how they are about women. Favourite song: Parental Discretion
What a cute album. Favourite songs: Made To Love, That's Just Too Much
easiest 5 star of my life, obviously. this truly fits the bill - you absolutely need to hear it before you die Favourite song: Purple Haze, Are You Experienced
Ideal summer listening. Favourite song: Desafinado
I could tell it was influential and well-crafted and all that, but it just didn't resonate with me.
Great stuff. I can't believe the only R.E.M. tracks I'd ever really heard before were Losing My Religion, Everybody Hurts and End Of The World. Favourite tracks: Welcome To The Occupation, The One I Love
Really nice to listen to something different. Favourite tracks: Mamata, Snow Flower
This one bounced off me big time. I genuinely liked Plainsong, Lovesong and Last Dance. But, every other track was overpowered by the way I was getting sent straight to sleep by the lead vocalist's voice. Favourite track: Last Dance
Solid album, I knew a few already (Rio, Hungry Like The Wolf) so it was nice to hear the others. Favourite track: Save A Prayer
really powerful album Favourite track: Love Woke Me Up This Morning
A really tricky one for me. I enjoyed the construction of the songs but the lead singer's voice is just so... weird! It's of its time, I guess. Favourite tracks: Venus, Guiding Light
I bounced the hell off this, it just did not jive with me.
Everything about this album is technically perfect. The singing, the music, the lyrics... but my god is it a *sad* listen. Nearly a full hour of heartbreak. I don't think I've ever said "this guy needs a wife" about anyone more.
Not really my thing
A lot of the reviews point out that this is very generic and written to appeal to a wide range of people, but this isn't necessarily a bad thing!
I liked some bits but the "droning" noises present in most of the songs were all just a bit much for me
