Talking HeadsNice easy listening which was nice to listen to whilst I was working and would be nice to listen to in the car. Not really my "vibe" though.
Nice easy listening which was nice to listen to whilst I was working and would be nice to listen to in the car. Not really my "vibe" though.
Low-energy rock which is nice for work/car driving but doesn't get me hyped. At least this album had Once in a Lifetime which is awesome.
I liked it a lot. I listened to lot of songs by War after this album.
I was excited to listen to this one. Read about the lead singer on Wikipedia and was immediately put off and therefore will find it difficult to review this album objectivally. It's... fine I guess... I didn't like the low energy for the subject matter.
This was a delight. Joni Mitchell has an amazing voice.
It was good. Had some bite. Liked the synthy tunes. Every Breath You Take is a classic.
Sleepy eepy tunes which are very chill and a bit haunting.
It was alright. Nice and punchy.
So chill! Bangers! Would buy this album probably.
Really great. Stuck between a 4 and a 5 rating (like War and Joni...)
Wow! Some music that isn't from America/the UK! Very exciting! I like it's bounciness and trippiness. Some sounds are grating on the ears.
Yeah it was alright. I didn't really listen to it properly, sorry :(
This is nice and relaxing, but not my vibe.
This is fun. I really admire what this album is trying to do. Songs are quirky, not especially ear-wormy but was lighthearted fun.
This is epic. Very groovy. Would buy and listen to over and over. Latin rock is not a genre I was expecting to enjoy so much. I really hope Santana isn't a weird transphobe.
This one was great, never heard of the artist or album before. Not sure whether to give a 4 or a 5.
Really great, a long of songs I liked. Reminds me a bit of some Eurovision entires. Stuck between a 4 and a 5 again...! Might buy.
Pretty good, but mostly forgettable (maybe I need to listen to it more). Titular album is legendary but I also liked This Is The house and This City Never Sleeps. 3.5/5
Lovely voice, very relaxing and beautiful. I could see myself getting more into this album with more listens. 3.5/5
I recognised You Can Call Me Al. The rest I don't remember well, but this album was nice and relaxing.
First listen was pretty iconic. I just like a good ol' punchy guitar.
I'm catching up with a backlog of albums so I'm only listening to these through the one time. This was okay, I'm not a huge fan of this country/Americana style. I did like Proud Mary. 2.5/5
Maggot Brain (the song) is intense. The rest I didn't remember much of, it was very tonally different.
It's alright. Has those sorts of American/country vibes that isn't really my vibe but it was nice enough.
It's okay. I can see how it's influential. I liked Fight For Your Right. I like their "Rap Rock" songs more than their "Hip Hop". The lyrics just didn't speak to me like most other rap artists do.
Maybe I need to reconsider whether I like country music or not. I liked this one a lot. Maybe there's something about that Bakersfield sound. Or hillbilly music, perhaps. I like the shorter songs (just over 2 minutes long for most of them), nothing overstays its welcome. The album progresses quickly and it stays engaging throughout because of this.
Some songs ok but forgettable. This would have probably been another 3/5 if it hadn't been for the absolutely ear-grating sections in many of their songs. It's so unpleasant to listen to so it instead gets a 1/5 because I would ask someone to not play this album if I saw them get out the CD.
I liked it actually. Very chill. I think I have a soft spot for folk music with fiddles. 3.5/5
This is so epic. The Robots is the best, reminds me of Daft Punk (or I should say, Daft Punk reminds me of Kraftwerk! It blows my mind this is from 1978, I can see how it influences songs today. That said, I've seen synth/vocoding tech used in more high-energy songs in general whilst Kraftwerk is a lot more low-key, so it manages to be a unique experience nonetheless. 5/5
Chill! I liked Chest Fever the most. Never heard of The Weight despite it being the most listened to song by far.
Hard not to rate this a 5 when it's an album I recognise with 3-4 songs that I really like but... the album isn't as strong as other Oasis albums and the filler isn't super thrilling so 4 seems fair.
Roundabout starts out so strong but the rest of the album is only okay. There's only four songs on this album and the rest is filler, really. For the actual songs, I prefer their 3-4 minute long "radio" versions.
They really put a 2 hour album on the 1001 albums you must listen to before you die list and it's only okay. I'm pissed man. If you're gonna make me listen to a 2 hour long album it better be the best fucking thing I've ever listened to. If this was a shorter album I may have given it a 3, but I'm so mad at the sheer length of this album. Nearly gave this a 1. The Wikipedia article for this album is interesting. I can see the influence and history. It doesn't change the fact it was a slog for me to listen to it all the way through. The second half of the album (The Love Below) was more my vibe, and Hey Ya! is excellent.
Pretty chill. 3.5/5
Pretty chill. 3.5/5
Same issue with Fragile by Yes. Starts out extremely strong with Take on Me and then the rest of the album doesn't live up to it. Broadly I liked it more, though, there are more actual songs and the vibe is nice. 3.5/5
Had high expectations for this one. It was okay. I don't think I'm a fan of this kind of grunge/rock. Normally I hate it but this was decent and didn't offend my ears but it certainly didn't turn me into a grunge/nirvana fan. Album imagery and song names together give me uncomfortable/weird vibes. 2.5/5
This is like 1970s Taylor Swift in that this album is about relationship woes and is also sang beautifully. It's a sad and melancholy album. I think I preferred Court and Spark, personally. 4.5/5
I'm already burned out from 1970s rock bands called The [Insert Noun Here]. Here we go again. This one was pretty good. It has a twinge of psychadelic which works really well. A good mix of instruments and sounds with nice ear-wormy riffs. 3.5/5
Really good. 4.5/5
I like it, it's excellent. It's pretty melancholy and low-energy, not completely my vibe. 4/5
Yeah it's good. Doesn't sound like punk music. I like the easy-listening upbeat tunes for what is quite an angry album. 4/5
Seems like a weird album to include on a list like this. That said, it is good.
I now have a chance to re-rate this after I was stuck between giving it a 4 and a 5 last time. There is part of me that felt guilty for not giving this a 5. But upon relisten I think 4 really is the rating I want to give this. It's still close though. 4.5/5
An important album in psychadelic rock. My interest is piqued. The songs were chill, but not as trippy as my preferred psychadelic songs. It mostly just gave low-energy rock vibes which I am already burned out on, and this album is quite long and drags somewhat. Broadly, I would say it's pretty good.
This is one I may regret not rating 5 later. It's really good.
I loved this album within 30 seconds of the first song. Maybe this is more deserving of a 4 and I'm just high on the excitement at getting a metal album. I'm sure I'll be listening to these guys more so time will tell.
This is a great live album. The crowd are loving it, I love hearing their cheering throughout the songs. There's something pretty weird and offputting about Cash singing about commiting crimes to a bunch of prisoners who are cheering along. Like, when he's singing about killing his wife and everyone is cheering? Ick. That said, there should be more prison concerts.
More metal! Very cool. Pretty undecided about rating this one a 4 or a 5, but I'm in a good mood after 2 days of metal.
Second opportunity for me to review this and adjust my rating. Before I rated it 3/5. After listening again, I'm happy with this rating. I still like what this album is doing, but I'm just not a fan of the music itself. There isn't much ear-worminess for me. The tunes aren't very interesting or varied which makes this long album a slog for me to listen through. It's not for me. The song lyrics are funny. I like the topics that they sing about. I like that the album is upbeat. On second listen through I liked Eye Know and Tread Water.
A short and snappy album. I like it. This is way more interesting than a lot of the rock music from the 60/70s I've listened to. These feel like songs I could dance to! I like the grungey sounds, the original un-remastered album has a gritty sound that I like. Have Love Will Travel is a classic advert song but it's great. 4/5
I like this one a lot. Lead A Normal Life/Biko at the end punched me in the gut.
This was really fun! I needed this album today. I like that it was very upbeat.
Start of the album is legendary but I forgot the second half from the first listen. I may regret this rating later.
This is excellent. But honestly, most of the songs aren't ones I'll be listening to often because they're funny little 1-2 minute long things. It was great background music to listen to whilst cooking breakfast. It works better as a whole album rather than being a bunch of songs which I love. Come Together and Here Comes The Sun are highlights. This is a 4.5/5 but I'm giving it a 4 (which I might regret like the last U2 album). And it's really only because I prefer listening to other genres to relax to over rock.
Unusual and experimental. It's more like background/soundtrack music, so it's nice to listen to at work, but it feels like a strange one to include on this list. Most of the songs don't have lyrics. Not really my vibe. Could possibly be a rated a 2 but it was alright really so I'll give it a 3.
This was good. This feels to me like a strange choice to select from the 2010s because I've never heard of this artist before (or maybe I live under a rock). I was somewhat excited for this since I was hoping for something more high-energy, but this album was more subdued. I liked that there were both English and French versions of these songs (similar to Kraftwerk). 3.5/5
There's some good stuff on here. But overall I really don't rate this. The singing reminds me of karaoke, or talk-rap. There aren't any tunes which wiggle into my ear (or many tunes at all really). It's certainly interesting, but broadly speaking it's just too strange and experimental for me to want to listen to this more than once. Something something this album is really historically important but it hasn't aged well, I'm not sure why I'd listen to this over what came after.
Going to try and ignore the fact this album was produced by Kanye West (I will fail). It is good. I liked the Corner and GO! But yeah I cannot ignore that this album is produced by Kanye West. I'm reading into the lyrics and I'm like... is this some anti-choice shit? Am I misunderstanding something? Yeah... I can't just ignore it. "Through death through conception, new breath and resurrection For moms, new steps in her direction in the right way Told inside is where the fight lay" What does this mean? Huh? I hate my life. 3/5
Now this one is definitely epic. Easiest 5/5 so far. Listened to this on repeat for my entire workday.
This is awesome. I swear this is an album my parents own/used to own with how familiar the first 5 songs are. I could rate this a 4 or a 5. I think this will get a 4 just because the album is pretty subdued and I prefer albums that make me wanna bounce off of the walls.
Relaxing, trippy, and melancholy. Not really my vibe, I'd have to be in a particular mood to really enjoy this.
Pretty good. This is a one-hit wonder album for me with Take Me Out, the rest of the songs didn't particularly inspire me. I liked the first half of the album more than the second half. 3.5/5

Was liking it until Free Form Guitar happened.
