Songs From The Big Chair by Tears For Fears
Oct 10 2024

Of course knew a lot of songs but hadn't never closely listened to them - a lot better than the general cheesy 80s impression you get from hearing them on TV. Still not something I think I'd come back to much but can recognise that's it's a well crafted album.

The Specials by The Specials
Oct 11 2024

Feel like the historical context of this album is quite important to appreciating it (which I don't have). Lots of references to race/gender which was probably more profound 40 years ago. Musically, I'm not that in love - feel like ska is just worse than reggae. The odd song does a good job blending that rock/reggae sound (stupid marriage, stupid bitch)

Sunday At The Village Vanguard by Bill Evans Trio
Oct 14 2024

Enjoyed it, can see my self coming back to it while doing some work or relaxing in the evening. Pretty standard good jazz - cant complain

Let It Bleed by The Rolling Stones
Oct 15 2024

Album saved on my phone = Certified banger. Giving a 4 feels harsh but it doesn't quite reach that 5. Some big tracks on this one but I didn't realise how much Monkey Man slaps

She's So Unusual by Cyndi Lauper
Oct 16 2024

Surprised at how many songs I knew from someone I didn't know the name of. Decent album but not doing it for me

Music in Exile by Songhoy Blues
Oct 17 2024

I really enjoyed this album - loved the rhythm of the album across the riffs and drums - and after reading about some of their story and a few translated lyrics this is a 5

Metallica by Metallica
Oct 22 2024

Soft 4 - a bit too long but overall quite enjoyed it

Broken English by Marianne Faithfull
Oct 23 2024

First album I didn't really want to finish. A bit all of the place with range of sounds Thought hey at least it's ending stronger before remembering working class hero is a John Lennon song.

Violent Femmes by Violent Femmes
Oct 24 2024

Started listening to this album sober = shit. After some work drinks = good. Could also be that the first half is bad (bar first song).

Closer by Joy Division
Oct 25 2024

What song was I suppose to enjoy here?
