(for dramatic effect) have i never listened to rock before? they might have done something w this heavy metal business.. im a first time sabbath listener so i just realized this is ozzy osbourne's band.. wheels of confusion - starts w that distinctly 70s sound 10/10 on easing me in changes - simp sad boy music is a tale as old as time. i feel like i just heard this song in a movie too & needed to know the name first 3 seconds of supernaut had me thinking of mitski nobody lmao. ok but forrealsies i think i declare supernaut my fav but sheeeesh talk about a no skips album im impressed
who starts an album like that.... (good way) baby be mine is a deep track id listen to alot.... so i will be listening to it alot ok the girl is mine... is that where this all started ???? is that why we have the boy is mine.. mind blown and then just bangerz... PYT is usually my go to off this album but i also need to give credit to beat it also v satisfying
feels like a huge cornerstone of the jazz fusion stuff i listen to & ive never heard of fela kuti until now !! observation no crime stands out 4 me very good when i'm listening/remember to put it on but also feels like some of the songs are hard to stick in my brain/re-listenability is a bit questionable. time will tell
this almost sounds too cool for the 1950s if that makes sense bemsha swing is a slayyy. again historical accuracy aside, it reminds me of bablyon (2022) - or should i say they could have been inspired by Thelonious Monk on their soundtrack...
i know he's from Texas but i'm ready for Nashville blue skies is a slay on the sunny side of the street - ok willie sinatra also the guitar at times.. its giving norteño.. he is also honorarily mexican imo
i love 80s music but i've never heard of this band. idk if i know any of their songs before now.. i'm actually a little upset at my dad now. i need to interrogate him on this. that being said, my only frame of reference leads me to say this - so this isn't oingo boingo? ok so definitely by heartland - this is def the kind of album i can see myself listening to while driving down the 60 (freeway) or down Valley Blvd anywhere in the SVG. which i only say bc reminds me of my dad w the windows down in the Honda, 80s music bumpin and little me in the passenger seat just wanting to go for the ride to Fry's Electronics. i think this is the first album on our list so far that i actually don't want to end. no skips. very cohesive. can see myself actually listening to again on my own. update: my dad does knows a few of their songs.
lazarus sounds like he's been listening to blood orange. thus i like. why's he so moody saxophone is the real star here i will not be listening to this again
i tried listening to this on my commute on friday, listened for 30 seconds, and said oh hell no and changed it to reggeaton. it was giving girl picking flowers in a field & baking focaccia, when i needed city girl driving to USC that being said i obvi gave it a proper chance bc never listened to an album by them i think i love this... scarborough fair is giving renaissance fair patterns - paris, texas (1984) at the very beginning homeward bound - bet im listening to this melodramatically on my return flights from now on middle of the album has some punch that i wasn't expecting they capture the sounds of whimsy v well overall pretty good & i could see myself listening to it again
cool album bro march of the black queen is v cool, hadn't heard before. but i think it has all the elements i expect from queen cant go wrong w seven seas of rhye (all i think of is bohemian rhapsody (2018) )
i guess this must have been cool at the time and i do like some of the sounds here but like who couldn't make this album? snooze fest lyrically
did a light listen here so sorry nick cave enjoyable. this alt rock sound is more my speed for some reason reminded me a bit of the last shadow puppets, maybe bc the kind of theatrics-ish that pop out here
go off sis!!!!! that was a great album, great storytelling, clever lyrics, good sounds all around. and such a journey from start to end, im almost at the edge of my seat waiting to hear what happens next but also omg girl just let that man go... dump him!!!
first Sufjan Stevens album and pretty difficult to get through for me chicago - OH so thats why this album is on the list. heard this one. was it in a movie? multiple? its giving indie movie breakthrough protaganist looking wistfully out the window of a bus ok am i done now? should i even listen to the rest of this after chicago.. ? "to the workers of the rock river valley region..." - finally interested in this album by this point "they are night zombies.." - also cool musicality here, like other tracks, sprinkled in
cool listen the kind of album if you played some of those songs i wouldnt just guess it was david bowie sound & vision a banger
this album was really surprising! never heard of this band but i liked this album. mr soul folk rock to a childs claim to fame country had me a lil shook. i just liked all the range here. expecting to fly is vibey.
really enjoyed this. "underwear" - im in a bit of a shock, im like woah the arctic monkeys are trying to sound like THIS band , really noticeable in this song
what am i gonna do not love the smiths? so im such a singles girlie when it comes to them & haven't sat through this album in full like this. i ended up listening to this on repeat more than any of the other albums, really wanted to absorb it just realized i do know more songs that i thought like "stop me if you think you've heard this before" lol so need to update my usual rotation last night i dreamt that somebody loved me - cool little build up to a great climax overall good & fun album, even if its not their best, v smiths nonetheless
pleasant
some cool songs that are familiar bc growing up w my dad, pop song 89, stand and orange crush. pop song 89 has like that cool bridge riff thing not part of the main chorus that i like. and thats it!
