One Nation Under A Groove
FunkadelicLoved this one. Made me happy, and totally confident that i was made to dance and enjoy the Funk. Wonderful commentary for today, and not just a glimpse at the past

Amazing album that i feel inadequate to evaluate. Felt spellbound already at the quiet opening that feels to me like a power gently stirring at a distance until it races to you, then the opening words blend in, “Breathe, Breathe the air, don’t be afraid to care”. Anyone who listens to the whole album will probably return to it again and again through the years. I have loved it since the 1980’s myself. “Breathe”, “Time” and “Dark Side of the Moon” are the ones whose lyrics i recall the most.
This album had a lot of memories related to it. Strange hearing the music from another perspective due to the passage of so much time. ‘While My Guitar Gently Weeps’ followed by ‘Dear Prudence’, ‘Glass Onion’ and ‘Blackbird’ were my favorites. Close behind them would be ‘Revolution’ and Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da. Strongly tempted to give this album a 5 rating….oh let us not be rude to temptation. 5 stars it is!
Not my bag. Dutifully i did listen completely, to every work. Electronic music had moments of zen, but usually found myself thinking how much longer is this… If wishing to play as EDM, the works called Theme and the Ballad of Nicky McGuire seemed best.
Enjoyed listening, even though this is not my favorite album by Hendrix. Favorite was “If 6 was 9”. Lyrics and Hendrix’s style of singing went well with the amazing guitar work. Second choice this time listening is Little Wing. It was the music not the lyrics that made it great. Mmm, i could say that about almost every song on the album.
Loved this album. Saved it in my favorites to listen again.
Sheryl Crow sings from her own life, in ways that anyone can relate to even if they did not have the exact same experience. “The Na-Na Song” had some great word play while bringing her bitter experience with harassment from those who have power over others. My favorite song was “We Do What We Can”. I added it to my favorites to listen to again whenever i am in a sad mood thinking of those who have passed but touched my life and what their dreams were, and of course how i wish to do what i can towards what matters to me
This was an album designed to make us look at the crazy waste and horrors of war. Music was there to support the lyrics. Ergo, a provocative set of works, not intended to be fun. Was a tough listen to go through all at once.
I have loved Talking Heads for decades, but never listened to this album in full before. Glad I did. The way they constructed their lyrics is unusual and striking, not always but often addressing the listener directly: "Look at these hands", "You may find yourself...", "You may ask yourself..." The songs seem quirky, and awesome.
Good album. Innovative. Very dark in mood and outlook, yet with evocative music, lyrics and vocals. Glad I listened to it again. I cannot say I enjoyed it. More like I drowned in it.
Loved this album. But then it is part of the rhythms and sounds of my late teens. Favorite songs were Boogie on Reggae Woman, and You Haven't Done Nothin'. Both had great and layered intros, and were excellent to the end.
Interesting to hear, although I want my time back from the almost 6 minutes of Well Well Well. But all in all album was a melange of interesting points made with emotion that touched me. I might have been overly gracious in my rating due to my delight in join hearing John Lennon again. Felt like hearing from a loved one who had passed.
Just label me as jaded. The repetitive and lengthy repetition of lyrics and music that i enjoyed on the first go, and second..by the third go made me want to yell ..'enough already, i get i, i heard it'! Each song had that issue.
Love this album. Good from the first track onwards. "I Want You to Want Me" being one of the best crafted of them all. Enjoyed her different takes on life. Oh, and couldn't help noticing most of her songs included her reflections on ended relationships and bad boyfriends. Might have missed one, but I am thinking of: "Rack of His", "Newspaper", "Ladies", "For Her", and "Drumset".
The double album killed me due to time demands. Listed to most of, and will finish later. Found it very interesting!
