The Teardrop ExplodesReally wild how essential mid British rock seems to be to the curator of this list! This was fine. Nothing special and not something I need to listen to again.

Iconic opening song. Love how old school and nostalgic it sounds featuring very classic instrumentals and beautiful melodies. Forgot what a great song Jet is and also introduced me to other bangers/ballads like Let Me Roll It, Picasso's Last Words, Mrs. Vanderbilt (that SAX!) and Mamunia! Just straight up raw rock n roll throughout. Plus I live for an album that ties the last song back to the opener. McCartney knows what he's doing! Also kind of love that the album was recorded in Nigeria as a bonus. Wish it didn't end so soon! Instant 5.
Can't believe I willingly putting on a Def Leppard album. Though Pour Some Sugar On Me does hold up as a single, that's about as good as it gets. I unfortunately have no choice but to put this in the category of the kind of music that shows up in cheesy 80s movies. Just far too over the top without much substance for me. They might sing a lot about women, but can't say this was intended for women. An hour I will never get back!
Every song sounds the same? Feels like the type of music that you have to be on ecstasy at a rave to really enjoy. Hard to believe we're considering these guys and Paul McCartney on the same list. "This Must Be the Place I Waited Years to Leave" kind of sums it up for me because I feel like I waited years for this album to be over. This is not for me.
This was beautiful in a dark and gloomy way. Sonically very interesting with poignant lyrics. Evokes the feeling of staring out a rainy window and yearning for someone in the best way. Plainsong is a really fantastic opener to set the tone with a big sound and big feelings. Each song felt uniquely complex with a kind of depth and musical/lyrical exploration within. I wanted to keep listening. Who knew I like The Cure?!
Day 5 and counting of British rock, but this was a fun boppy album! Kinda feels like Beatles-lite but not quite as prolific? Nothing overly spectacular but just a fun old-school album to listen to and found myself singing along with some of the ba-ba-bas and la-la-las. Liked David Watts, Two Sisters, Afternoon Tea and Waterloo Sunset. Good background music or filler on a dinner party playlist.
Beam me back to 1967 because this was groovy as hell!!!!!
Funky!!! Never listened to a full album of theirs, but it was a catchy, poppy kind of punk. Loved the bass line and the beats throughout. Made me want to dance!
Björk is Björking but I have nothing to add here!
Finally some rock & roll!!! Dave Grohl's big debut. Wildly impressive he did it all himself and love how raw it is. Also found the lyrics to hit a little deeper with the full album listen. Every song is kind of a banger but loved Big Me, This is a Call and X-Static. Could listen all day. Hope to see more of the Foo Fighters on the list. No notes beyond the fact that it's a shame that Dave Grohl cheated on his wife :(
Expected to hate listening to this as I'm not a huge Justin person but wow, quite the opposite. Soulful, sexy, sweet and catchy as hell! Right for Me and Señorita might be the sexiest songs ever?? A little light on substance but 100% there on the style. Can confirm I've been JUSTIFIED! (and also TBT to the Super Bowl in 2004, we all remember where we were!)
I wanted to like this more than I did given the Nirvana of it all but couldn't get there :( Heart-Shaped Box is good, but overall just a really aggressive, unsettling and kind of disturbed quality to the music and lyrics. Sad to think about Kurt's mental state writing this album. Need to listen to earlier Nirvana albums though to get the full appreciation for the band.
An absolutely beautiful album. The Fairest of the Seasons, Somewhere There's a Feather and Wrap Your Troubles in Dreams are all highlights, but These Days is truly in a league of its own. Just an unbelievably deep song that really makes you confront the passage of time and where you are in life. I loved how instrumental the album was (the strings!! the flutes!!) combined with the ghostly, ethereal quality of Nico's voice. Such a singular sound.
Could not make it through the album. Sounds like noise!
What a gift this album is! How lucky are we to get to experience the magic of a solo George Harrison. Wonderfully sweet, soulful and spiritual. Truly captures what I would imagine the vibe of the late 60s and early 70s was? Also to be a fly on the wall writing songs with George Harrison and Bob Dylan. Only issue was the length. But I think the genius was worth the extra time.
Kinda groovy? Made me laugh at least. Don't ever need to hear it again but very funny.
Folksy. Not sure it's my kind of folk though. Almost felt inspired by old Celtic folk songs. Not anything I was super excited by.
This sounds like mad noise. I'm simply not giving this 1 hour and 11 minutes.
The hold that obscure British rock has on this list....cool organ but why is it on here?
My dad is a huge Supertramp fan, so I might be biased but I thought this was GREAT. They're such a dramatic band in the best way. Jam band-y but not in an obnoxious or indulgent way. Also a cool album cover. Bloody Well Right, Dreamer & If Everyone Was Listening were the standouts for me. A 4 only because the hits off of Breakfast in America are even better!

Not a punk girlie, but I could see why people who like punk would like this. Didn't make it through the full thing and don't need to really experience this band again.
WOW!!! This is an ALBUM! Some real bangers I've never heard before. She has such a larger than life *presence* with that voice. Jazzy and sultry with an attitude. Brutal lyrics though. Stronger Than Me as the opener is such a statement. Fuck Me Pumps brings the drama. Tragic to have lost such an artist so young.
Beautiful album!!! So classic, soulful and sultry. Instant 5.
