1001 Albums Summary

R.E.M. always reminds me of my Dad as they were one of his favorites when I was growing up. I was unfamiliar with most of the songs on this record, but I really enjoyed it! Highlights: Perfect Circle, Radio Free Europe

Cast No Shadow is a little underrated; never really thought too much of this song until now. Great album, though I can see the criticism of it just being one big wall of sound. However, it’s just so ingrained as a classic in my eyes I can’t give it anything but a 5. Can’t wait to see these two absolutely kill one another live on stage in 2025.

Sheesh, this is rough lyrically. A lot of interesting things musically. I just can’t see myself ever really sitting down and listening to this all the way through again.

Listen to it again, but imagine it’s Dr. Teeth & The Electric Mayhem. Classic album.

Tentatively giving this a 2 because, yikes, I was not vibing with this at all today. I do think in the right frame of mind I might enjoy it more. Even so, entirely too bloated.

Highlights: Wish I Was Skinny, Lazarus Generally enjoyed this, but a little overly long and didn’t completely vibe with everything.

Interesting, and I enjoyed the music, but it’s a tough listen when you don’t speak the language. Also, it appears based on some research that this is clever lyrically - unfortunately, didn’t get to experience that.

Started really strong, but the second half of this was just really boring.

Not for me. I did enjoy “Planet of the Shapes” though - sounded like it could have been a track on the PS1 Spyro games.

Hits are fine, album tracks are just meh.

The first song that made me check my phone and say “maybe I’ll add this to my playlists” was something that Spotify just started playing after the album ended. It wasn’t awful by any stretch; it just didn’t really resonate with me.

Her voice is fantastic, but this is just not for me. The first track was decent, at the very least.
