Don’t get me wrong I like the Cube. But I’ve realized through this listen I don’t like the Cubes voice and flow for 50+ minutes. Maybe I’m looking at it from a modern rap lens. For me by the end it gets monotonous a bit and just some variety on the delivery more would help me or features or something. Lyrically it’s great, the beats great, but for me that doesn’t carry it enough. It was a good day is an all time, that’s at least a star on its own. An extra star for 21 Jumpstreet, he was great in that. Final star because I like calling him Cube.
First Doors album I’ve listened to from start to finish. Riders on the Storm is the obvious classic that listeners will recognize. I felt the rest of the album differed from that sound drastically. There’s a clear inspiration from early blues both lyrically and musically. For me personally, hyacinth house was the track I gravitated to the most. I would need to listen some more to really dig in deeper but overall I liked it and can see where it has been influential. 7/10
Didn’t give this a full listen. It’s 2 hours that’s too much for one album imo. Used to listen to a lot of the songs in high school on here. Great stuff Moby, maybe a little more concise and I’d be all about it. But overall great, could be incredible for all I know just not listening to that much electronic blues Moby music.
An all time classic album for a reason. So much incredible work on here a few songs that don’t fully do it for me but everything comes together so well. I probably won’t have many 5s but this is a 5 for sure.
First time listening to Exodus completely. Like many others I've heard the most famous songs off of this album and those are great and bring the album to greater heights. But the album doesn't have a single track I didn't like. There are songs that I added to my library and will continue to listen to but the album start to finish is cohesive and especially the writing seemed excellently thought out and put together. I don't listen to a ton of Marley and so maybe that's obvious but for me it was a surprise and a welcome one.
Off the wall is my first front to back listen of a Michael Jackson album. It starts off immediately into one of the best songs on the record and carries the disco influence throughout. For me the album was great at the beginning and then somewhere in the middle around the track “Girlfriend” I felt a tone shift and personally didn’t love a few songs here.(even though the writing should be phenomenal with Paul McCartney and Stevie wonder songs being in this section) The album ends with songs that got me hooked again and in particular I thought “Burn the Disco Down” was a great way to end it.
Started fairly indifferent, and left a fan. Good album
Heavily comparing this to Exodus since we just listened through it. Maybe I’m misremembering but a lot more electric guitar than in exodus, in general I think I liked the music on this album more but thought the lyrics and content in general could leave something to be desired at times where Marley was writing more interesting songs. “Why Must I Cry” was the standout song for me and since Marley is on the writing credits that checks out. Overall a solid early reggae album.
Didn't really hate or love this one. I think the music was fine, the lyrics were fine, it came off very 90s grunge and that felt dated in some ways to me. Something about it didn't connect with my personal taste in music so much. Just a fun fact their drummer produced Nirvana's Nevermind and some Smashing Pumpkins albums. 5.5/10

Rush was experimenting with what rock music could be at the height of the genres popularity. Other bands nail the formula better in my opinion like The Rolling Stones and Led Zeppelin. But Rush and Moving Pictures takes chances with wacky synth work, unique melodies, and creative chord progressions. Does it always work? No. Sometimes the lyrics feel nonsensical, sometimes too much is going on in one song for it to feel cohesive. All this to say, I don’t think Moving Pictures is a perfect album, but I think the music is brilliant, I think the musicians are brilliant and I’m glad Rush really went for it in a way that not every band was willing to.
I liked it a lot. Listened through nothing in particular stood out to me but I’ll be listening some more for sure.

Eagles are alright sorta boring at times to me. Hotel California feels so separate from everything else but it’s not bad background music though I have a visceral hatred for life in the fast lane for some reason and maybe that’s biasing me towards the whole thing
I’m way behind, I gotta keep this short. Band is ahead of its time this album would probably be on repeat for me if I was the right generation. Fools Gold and I wanna be adored I thought were both great songs exploring unique ideas
Fuck it, it’s Stevie Wonder the guys a genius
There are a lot of misses on this album. Closer is a fine start and we start moving downhill pretty quickly after. It feels like Kings of Leon had an exact sound they were going for and maybe they nailed it but it gets stale. They rely heavily on the lead singers unique vocals. I get tired of that sound pretty fast. They’re making music in a way not too dissimilar from what imagine dragons do.
There are moments and songs on this album I would love to give 5 stars. The title track is one of those, and being the second song it set my expectations incredibly high. Ultimately those moments are too sporadic and the album as a whole can have too much going on musically at times. That’s not to say there aren’t many great moments though. All the stripped back acoustic versions are less adventurous but the guitar playing, Paul Simon’s writing, and vocal ability are enough to carry them.
Genre defining synth pop, as much as it isn’t the music I prefer the hits have invaded my world and are recognizable. For synth pop I’m guessing this is one of the all time greats. Seconds was a surprise for me probably my favorite song on the album
The guitar playing, the melodies, songwriting ability, woeful singing. I prefer Either/Or but this record isn’t far behind at all.
I know some Joni Mitchell songs, but had no idea how solid her whole album would be. She has a great voice and really unique delivery across the album. The sound varies a lot despite it mostly just being singer songwriter stuff. I like the name Joni if that matters. Almost able to pull off a deez nuts style joke with it. Joni ? Who’s Joni? Jo- neez nuts kinda thing but not quite. Jodi would be better for that, gonna keep that in mind. 4/5
I actually didn’t dislike this like I thought I would at all. The sound was clearly influential and despite it being a 1979 album, I think you’d guess it was way later if you didn’t know. Tested this on my girlfriend and she said the 90s. The rhythm across the whole album is phenomenal.
This album proves I haven’t given Paul’s “solo” career enough credit. Admittedly Im partial to George and John’s post-Beatles music but I thoroughly enjoyed Band on the Run. Sometimes the songwriting can be silly but other than that no complaints really
So much tension and emotion on this album like most Radiohead albums. The sound stays incredible varied The Bends is some of the best work from one of the best bands to ever do it
Willie Nelson came on immediately after this and I didn’t realize it was new album. But I noticed the music was better…
Hadn’t listened to much of the Kinks, was expecting a worse Beatles. Actually very interesting experimental music for the time I think. A 40 minute album in 15 songs makes most of the songs fairly short. But it’s not the worst thing they change their sound up a lot over the course of the record. I particularly liked Last of the Steam Powered Trains. 8/10
Legendary album. Full of songs about his ex wife and it moves so smoothly from song to song like only Marvin Gaye could do. Beautiful melodies, love this front to back
Is this great electronic music? Maybe. I feel like I just binged geometry dash for the last few hours or something. But I like geometry dash so what is that a good thing ? Maybe. If the Mario Kart soundtrack would be a 5 I’ll give this a 3
