I am one lucky bastard for drawing this one on my first day. I might be biased, because I love the man in black more than I love my own father, but alas, what a masterpiece. One of, if not the, best live albums ever.
Ain't no way that so far I got Johnny Cash and Black Sabbath in TWO DAYS. wow. Welp, Paranoid is a staple. This album birthed the entire heavy scene, from Maiden to the little mid-western screamo bands I like to listen on the low. I am beyond grateful for its existence. Also, I've known War Pigs for 20 years now and I still get goosebumps at the beginning.
Can't stand reggae for the life of me but even I can't deny the greatness in this album. Not for me tho
boring except for the title track
what in the ancient EDM. it was catchy at times though. [robot voice] fatboy slim is schmoicking in heaven
I'm in shock - didn't know a single song from this album. But I do love me some Presley so listening to it was a breeze. Such quality live music.
THAT'S WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT BABYYYYY. Ain't no way this is live because of the crisp audio and guitars but still, incredible stuff. Honestly. Never heard of this band before and I was delighted.
Without this list, I would've probably never come across this album. What a GEM. Pure, unmatched vampy vibes. I consider myself a pretty big The Cure fan and I had never heard any of this songs. "In Your House" made me have such a visceral reaction, I had to go cry in the bathroom. Holy fuck.
The first few tracks made me feel like I was in a movie. Bur after 20min I got bored. I guess I'm not a huge conceptual hip hop girlie.
I was trying to enjoy it but 1) never heard of this band before [derrogatory], 2) went to google the band and had the bad news that they broke up because the singer was accused of doing bad stuff to a few women, 3) I just couldn't get into the damn album.
his voice is a joke
The Witch is like. Type O' Negative way before Type O' Negative was a thing. and for that only they get two stars
Groovy but maybe not mainstream enough for me. The version I listened to had very much LP sound quality so maybe that affected my listening experience. Also nearly jumped out of my seat when I heard the N word, HARD R, multiple times in a song
FINALLY SOME GOOD FUCKING FOOD!!! I love MGMT and this is the kind of groovy I need to get through the day. this is probably one of their best albums too, ugh, love it
I beg of you... enough with the 60s UK rock bands... I feel like I'm being haunted by The Beatles
me: please... enough with the UK 60s rock bands... this hellsite: ok :) here's an AMERICAN 60s rock band! HAVE MERCY I CAN'T TAKE THIS ANYMORE
FINALLY SOME GOOD FUCKING FOOD omg after like 5 consecutive albums of shitty 60s rock bands, I needed some actual bangers. The Offspring makes me think of the imaginary boyfriend I had when I was 14 who was a punk-skater-pianist, so I love it. Miss him dearly.
After complining about getting recommended 60s rock bands non-stop, the music gods finally listened and gave me a 60s rock band I actually like. This is my favorite Doors album, Jim's voice makes me swoon. Listened to it 3x on a row.

tell me why am I sobbing into my work e-mails as I listen to My All. she is, indeed, the moment. probably not her best album but still very very beautiful and fun
My mom, who was a teen in the 80s, hates a-ha with a passion. My boyfriend, who was a teen in the 90s, loves them. The only song I knew was Take on Me, because of that one Vine meme. Tell me why this was one of the best albums I heard all week?? SOOO groovy and fun, Morten's voice is to die for. Out of this world!
I wanted to give it 4 stars because it genuinely has great music, but by the fourth song I was a bit bored. It was catchy tho
oh, my Tumblr Teen Years™. This album was a huge part of my music taste when I was 14. Crystalize is still one of my favorite songs.
SUCH a beautiful voice. it's crazy how much good music we might lost over the fact that it's from a few generations ago. Never would've heard of this guy if it wasn't for this list
it's funny bc you look at that cover and never expect the songs to sound like they do. way too bo burnham to me though, music and comedy shouldn't go together in my opinion but alas
I do know talent when I see it - Mr. Frampton is one hell of a musician, great technique and beautiful voice. I'm pretty sure I'd love to have been there, at the recording of the album, bc he's so charismatic! But when it comes to my personal music taste, I do prefer rock music to be a bit heavier, so I don't think I'll be listening to it again. Still good tho! If I could give ti a 3,5 instead of a 3, I would.
When I think of this album, I think of a sonic Molotov cocktail of punkSO passionate and defiant. It's a battle cry for social justice and a testament to the power of unapologetic resistance. Love it, but then again: not my PERSONAL musical favorite. Would give it 4.5 stars if I could
listen, I know what people say about this album (there's a pun there) but I simply do not care. "oh it's suburban teens whining about growing up" yes. "oh it's classist" a bit. "oh it's like the strokes/oasis/radiohead" IDCCC IT'S A BANGER!! Sometimes ALL you wanna do is hear a scrawny rockabily wannabe teen whining about the club scene in suburban UK ok. geez. let people HAVE THINGS man. forever a staple in MY HOME
Chills, a true masterpiece in its genre. Not the biggest fan but the talent is simply undeniable. Would give it 3.45 if I could (again, ratings are based on personal taste)
OH MY GOD??? Why did NO ONE introduce me to R.E.M. before??? Murmur could've been released this morning for how modern their alt rock sound is, HOW is this album 43 years old????? Also Lynyrd Skynyrd WHO???? THIS IS TRUE redneck music, like if the cure was southern gothic instead of just goth. oh my god. it's giving South, it's giving apocalyptic, it's giving religious trauma and it is, dare I say, giving cunt. Loved it.
the only thing I can say about this album is that it feels like having a cig with my boyfriend in his car, windows down, night city lights washing over us both, hysterical laughter and the radio loud enough to bother every car around us. happy, in love, smelling of marlboros and sex. yeah
listen, I'm not the biggest jazz girl unless I'm in the specific mood for jazz - however, it's undeniable that Masekela's sound is different than everything else. His music is very clearly rooted in his South African heritage, making it sound so much more nuanced than what I'm used to when listening to Jazz. Very nice!
When I heard the first few notes of the first song - Blister in the Sun - it felt like that warmth in your belly when you read an old letter or diary by another entry and realize that we all feel the same things, and at the end of the day, all experiences tend to be universal. By the second song I was in awe - a little Southern band that feels like the Beach Boys' goth cousin, playing a song so raw and intense it made me gasp, sounding both like bluegrass and a garage pop-punk band. I had NO IDEA who the Violent Femmes were - when I heard Blisters in the Sun, I knew that lyrics were a forte, but Kiss Off threw me back into my chair. "Nine for a lost god, Ten for everything, everything, everything" literally killed me. Wow.
I am SO SORRY maybe I'm in a weird music day but except for like two songs I couldn't get into this one at all.... I know, I know, a crime. I'm sorry. Just throw me in jail already
HOW are these the same guys that sing the michael scott CPR song??? Odessa took my breath away from the very first song, a latin rock opera masterpiece. Lost m e for a couple songs, but the beggining and end were just beautiful. Would give 4.5 stars if I could.
I was so ready to be like "ENOUGH WITH THE DAMN BEACH BOYS!!!" but as I kept listening, it got more and more schizo-sounding, not necessarily in a bad way but not a good way either. Still unfortunately too Beach Boyish for me. Imagine my surprise when I googled Brian Wilson and found out he was ACTUALLY schizophrenic. I'm not laughing, you are. Anyways, I am all for mental health issues in music, being BPD myself - I do draw the line when it sounds like it came out of the Wonka factory, though. Maybe it's the fucking harpsichord, idk. Not for me, but a LITTLE bit more tolerable than the god damn Beach Boys.
