Fun sound, but it didn’t really stand out to me in the world of punk/rock.
Favourite song: Sixteen Blue
Not my genre at all. Definitely had some good sounds and beats, but I would not listen to it again voluntarily.
Stand out songs:
- So Fresh, So Clean
- Ms. Jackson
- I’ll Call B4 I Cum
- Toilet Tisha
So I only really know the hits of Elton John, and I now know there’s a reason why he’s a classic. No skips!
Standout songs:
Tiny Dancer
Indian Sunset
Holiday Inn
Probably a really good dance album, but my folky ears just cannot appreciate it fully.
Stand out songs:
Little Red Corvette
While probably a great jazz album, this is fully instrumental and not really for me 💔
Now this is more my genre. Unfortunately, I don’t think this is the strongest album, and I probably won’t listen to it again.
Standout songs:
Shining Star
I know Moby a little bit, but mostly from his social persona. Nice to put a sound to the name. And I like the sound, kind of a viby, hiphop-y soft rock?
Unfortunately, most of the songs were very repetitive, and that threw me off.
Stand out songs:
Honey
Natural Blues
Dolly!!!! I love Dolly and I thought this was a sweet little thing that I would definitely listen to again.
Standout songs:
Coat of Many Colors
Traveling Man
A Better Place to Live
I appreciate the experimentalism, and I like his voice. Songs are a little too long for me, when most of it is instrumental, and honestly a little noisy.
Stand out songs:
You and I
Okaaay!! I really like this actually. This is a very cool sound.
Standout songs:
Venus
Torn Curtain
Oh that is so pleasant!
Stand out songs:
Retreat Song
The Click Song
The Naughty Little Flea
Now we’re talking! I love Bob Dylan, and this is a no-skip album for me.
Stand out songs:
Like a Rolling Stone
From a Buick 6
It Takes a Lot to Laugh, it Takes a Train to Cry
Desolation Row
Again, this is not my usual type of music. He seems to be obsessed with gay men. However, I can’t help but admit that there are some real classic bangers on here.
Stand out songs:
Kill You
Stan
The Real Slim Shady
It was fine.
Stand out songs:
Summertime Rolls
Mountain Song
Jane Says
Fun, Interesting and even ethereal at times. Good time, but ultimately a little forgetable.
Stand out songs:
Backwater
Here He comes
Genuinely really enjoyable sound. Actually really refreshing.
Standout songs:
Long Promised Road
Student Demonstration Time
Rap AND hard rock? I’m so sorry
Lovely sounds!
Stand out songs:
Love Her Madly
Cars Hiss By My Window
L.A. Woman
Riders On the Storm
Wow, I was not expecting to love this so much. I’ve been having an identity crisis over possibly not even liking rock music. But THIS is the kind of rock music I love, and honestly also the reason I’m doing this challenge: To find new artists I love.
Stand out songs:
Moribund the Burgermeister
Solsbury Hill
Excuse Me
This was fine. Not sure I would listen to it again, but it was fine.
Stand out songs:
Trouble Down South
Flitcraft
Lost Highway
Very sweet, soothing and melodic. Unfortunately I do need a little bit more edge, guitar and speed to get going.
Stand out songs:
Turn Me On
Nightingale
Iconic. Nostalgic. Soooo many hits
Standout songs:
You Oughtta Know
Hand in My Pocket
Forgiven
Head Over Feet
Ironic
Patti, my beloved. I just finished Just Kids not two weeks ago and I’m so happy to continue to listen to Horses. Patti is probably the coolest rock n roll musician I know, and that is reflected in her music 🩵
Stand out songs:
Gloria
Redondo Beach
Free Money
Kimberly
Elegie
I love this band and I love this album. I also love Lou Reed, but I do think I prefer the songs where Nico is the lead singer. Some of the experimentalisms I find to be a little bit grating, but overall this album is great.
Standout songs:
Sunday Morning
I’m Waiting on the Man
All Tomorrow’s Parties
I’ll Be Your Mirror
Although this is his most critically acclaimed album, I didn’t like it as much as Highway 61 Revisited. Of course it is still good though, it is clear the he is one of the best.
Standout songs:
Like a Woman
