American Idiot by Green Day
May 31 2025

Hard to deny how culturally significant the album is (especially now more than ever) but I think Green Day bit off more than they can chew here. All the singles are great, but it quickly drowns in its own ambition to tell some kind of thematic story. If this was a 6-7 track EP it might be something close to a perfect record.

Bat Out Of Hell by Meat Loaf
Jun 01 2025

Classic album. The theatrical production is second to none.

Tom Tom Club by Tom Tom Club

LCD Soundsystem owes a huge debt to Tina and Chris. Very fun and funky album but its somewhat of a mixed bag too.

Boston by Boston
Jun 06 2025

Hard to believe this is essentially a demo of two dudes recording in a basement. EVERY track is a staple of classic rock radio and its infectious as hell.

1999 by Prince
Jun 07 2025

Chock full of so many bangers but lets be real: nearly every song on here is like 2-3 minutes too long. D.M.S.R changed my life.

Young Americans by David Bowie
Jun 08 2025

One of my favorite Bowie records. It gets some unfair criticism for the "blue eyed soul" of it all but I think it genuinely comes off as sincere instead of imitation. Anyone paying attention to his career up to this point knows he was always influenced by r&b/soul. It was only a matter of time.

Blood Sugar Sex Magik by Red Hot Chili Peppers
Jun 10 2025

Why the FUCK is this album almost 80 minutes long. I've never really much cared for RHCP aside from admiring Flea's talent but this gets really grating really fast. There are some good grooves here and there and Under the Bridge is a classic but overall: No thanks.

Technique by New Order
Jun 12 2025

Bit of an identity crisis on this album, it constantly flip flops between dance heavy synth pop to the more post-punkish vibes of their earlier albums. But still, I dig it.

Songs In The Key Of Life by Stevie Wonder
Jun 15 2025

One of the very few 80 minute albums that completely earns its runtime. Literally every song is a total masterpiece.

Exodus by Bob Marley & The Wailers
