Buenas Noches From A Lonely Room
Dwight Yoakam
Honky tonk country with great instrumentation. The subject matter in the lyrics are quite trad romance. But damn, there's accordions in the title track. Honky tonk aside, Dwight has a velvety voice.
Hold On to God is a great sing-a-long track.

Remain In Light
Talking Heads
David Byrne is a genius in his own right. Having read that book about the emerging music scene in NYC in the late 70s / 80s makes me appreciate The Talking Heads that much more.
Unadulterated experimentation, free from expectations, actually, not giving a fuck about expectations.
The first track jogs with such calculated immortality, and even has infectious chanting sing-a-long phrases.

Axis: Bold As Love
Jimi Hendrix
I can't believe I've never listened to this album in its entirety. I understand why Jimi's considered one of the greatest. The chord progressions, the syncopation, the rhythmic delivery of his lyrics in addition to the lyrical content. The compliments and studio firsts continue.
Perhaps subconsciously I knew of this, but Bold As Love being originally sung and written by Hendrix kind of blew my mind.
