Some great, classic songs. Some duds.
So absolutely classic bangers, incredible songwriting. Then it devolves into Sting’s noodling, Dream of the Blue Turtles songs.
The best songs are bangers. Some others are dated and not my style anyway. Not into the ballads.
Loved some songs. Not so much others. Big Mouth Strikes Again is hilarious and catchy
Lovely. Not exactly my style. A little boring to me, although I can appreciate the skill, craftsmanship and soul.
Important album. Not my jam.
I can appreciate how important this was in the evolution of modern music but it was meh to listen to.
Confusing album. I need to listen to it again. The production or mastering or whatever make it hard to listen to. Reminds me of old The Police, raw garage power trio. Love the variety of influences.
Everyone says it's awesome but I struggle to get over the easy listening vibes. Maybe it will click with me some day.
Amazing songs, but the album is like a mixtape, or a radio. 5 stars.

I didn’t enjoy the singing. Some of the guitar playing was great. I dug the trippy ambient-ish stuff. Mixed bag. I can see how it was important at the time.
Rough and unpolished, I love the drum machine sounds, nostalgic for that era with industrial and punk experiments. Echoes of Pailhead! Interesting.
I can see how this was cool when it was new but now I find it boring.
Surprisingly good. Brings me back to those adventurous bands like dead milkmen, minutemen, firehose, violent femmes. Raw reckless and passionate.
Amazing and under appreciated today. Catchy lyrics, catchy riffs, groovy beats. I forget how guitar-driven the songs are. Stellar pop music.
I wasn’t in the right mood. And/or it’s just boring. I understand its historic importance and I see its influence all over but on its own it’s just a little boring.
lovely album. What a gem. Lyrics, vocals, instrumentation, everything comes together in a beautiful package. Great album.
stellar - the kind of music you think of when you hear the word “jazz.” Genre-defining. 5 stars
I don’t understand why this is an album I should listen to. It’s boring, it doesn’t seem to fit into any evolution of music genres that I care about in any way, it has no redeeming value in my eyes.
Some awesome songs, and some that drag. Love the style, don’t always love the execution. Still, the high points are amazing. 4 stars.
Even all these years later this album is amazing. If you aren’t compelled by the powers of rock and roll to belt out the poetry like a possessed crooner then check your pulse, you’re not alive, you’re not living! Amazing guitar licks (kids might call them boomer nowadays), hard hitting lyrics, emotional singing, groovy swinging driving drums, I love this album, it brings me ecstasy.
Ok. Dated at this point. Was never a fan of the hit single, thought it was a bit repetitive. Strong Brit-Rock styling overall.
I've never listened to this. After 1 listen: instant classic. Straight ahead, authentic rock and roll. I hear punk, I hear heavy metal. Echoes of 80s "alt" metal like The Cult and Social Distortion. Lenny obviously sings from the heart, the whole band believes in every drum hit, every string picked, every word sung. It's not just music, it's identity.
Soooo 70s. Cool funk. Honestly a little boring for me at this point, though.
I’ve listened to this now a few times. It doesn’t land with me. I find her caterwauling a bit self absorbed. It’s like she wants to front an art-rock band. I can see how it would be exciting and transgressive when it came out, but today it’s just meh for me.
Another meh from me. I could see how for the right person, repeat listening would unearth delightful details. I’m just not interested, unfortunately.
Dated at this point, but still good
very dated. I can see how it was revolutionary at the time, but we've come so, so far beyond it now
very dated. fun and classic.
idk. didn't click for me. felt like they were trying too hard. I could see how it could be intoxicating at the right time in the culture, right time of your life. didn't work for me now.
time capsule right here. I love the singing, I love the sound of the band. solid musicianship. songs are a bit boring for me tho. neat but I'll never listen to it again.
Surprisingly good progressive folk. Quite technical and complex. I enjoyed it.
Absolute classic. Stellar album. Hits that keep delivering 40 years later. Pop prog rock with sing along lyrics and epic grooves.
This album is all vibe. High energy, delicious textures, beats and samples spread over everything like peanut butter, high energy party rapping with all the bros. Lyrics are meh but they aren’t the point. Good time contained herein.
seemed more subdued than white stripes more popular songs. Jack White gives it his all, caterwauling all over the place. I appreciate the passion. The production didn’t do anything for me though. Not my cup of tea
Ambient-ish, with a few tracks with a bit of energy that are interesting. Overall a little underseasoned for my taste. Ok album.
Soulful, beautiful. I adore the music. So much space! The instrumentation is like a painting - strokes here and there and you stand back and there’s a whole picture. 5 stars.
Absolutely fantastic. Smooth, funky, authentic, soulful, just gorgeous. Love this album.
I love the spirit, the texture of this album. I don’t love that it feels repetitive in the second half. Some amazing, iconic songs here. I’m really happy this is in the list.
