Popular Reviews

Figure 8 by Elliott Smith

That sure is a sadboi in Portland

The Atomic Mr Basie by Count Basie & His Orchestra

This one feels like what I imagine "jazz" to sound like. Not sure how I feel about it.

Feast of Wire by Calexico
Jun 26 2025

Felt unctuous. Dark maybe? Like a really good ramen broth.

Paul's Boutique by Beastie Boys
Jun 27 2025

Ma you're just jealous it's the beastie boys. Be more quinticential. But the stuff at the end of this album is fire.

Tres Hombres by ZZ Top
Jun 30 2025

It's crunchy, it's driving, it's riffed up, it's ZZ Top!

Brothers In Arms by Dire Straits
Jul 01 2025

Great sound. Opening riff to Money for Nothing is bonkers

Jul 03 2025

Unplugging really shows Kurt's voice in an incredible light. I was not really feeling Nirvana today but that was more of a mismatch by me than anything. Will have to come back to it

LP1 by FKA twigs
Jul 04 2025

It's not for me

Live At The Regal by B.B. King
Jul 07 2025

Amazing. Puts the king in BB King. Crunchy blues

Kind Of Blue by Miles Davis
Jul 08 2025

This was on the one hand, quite compelling. On the other, I don't think it's something I will seek out again. Hard to say

Jazz Samba by Stan Getz
Jul 14 2025

I've never thought of myself as a "jazz guy" but I really enjoyed this album. Maybe it's the samba? In any case, would listen again.

World Clique by Deee-Lite
Jul 16 2025

It's pretty disco groovy. I liked it.

Come Away With Me by Norah Jones
Jul 23 2025

Kinda surprised how jazzy this turned out to be

Paranoid by Black Sabbath
Jul 24 2025

The original of metal on full display it seems

Doggystyle by Snoop Dogg
Jul 29 2025

Great album! Gfunk at its finest

Figure 8 by Elliott Smith
Jul 31 2025

That sure is a sadboi in Portland

Liquid Swords by GZA
Aug 01 2025

Loved it! Just classic boom bap right here

Doolittle by Pixies
Aug 04 2025

Pretty punky. Never listened to the Pixies before and I'm glad I got the chance too

Abbey Road by Beatles
Aug 05 2025

This is my favorite Beatles album

Closer by Joy Division
Aug 08 2025

Glad I got to give Joy Division a go finally. I think I need another listen to really get a good feel

The Queen Is Dead by The Smiths
Aug 12 2025

Also never listened to the Smiths before. Gotta say, for a dark/brooding sound, I liked it!

Tigermilk by Belle & Sebastian
Aug 13 2025

A classic case of not judging a book by its cover. Don't get the album art but the sound is nice

Vauxhall And I by Morrissey
Aug 14 2025

Not sure how I feel about Morrissey. Kinda weird. Kinda whiny. Kinda nice. I just don't know

Gorillaz by Gorillaz
Aug 18 2025

I really liked this! Got a lot of sounds I didn't expect

OK Computer by Radiohead
Aug 19 2025

I didn't really like this, but I think I wanted it to be something else. Worth a revisit

No Other by Gene Clark
Aug 20 2025

What an album! How did this get lambasted by critics??? Sort of sat in the country/blues space, which I did not expect.

The Scream by Siouxsie And The Banshees
Aug 21 2025

Gotta remember to give this one another try. I listened to about half and liked it, but ran out of time

Rock 'N Soul by Solomon Burke
Aug 25 2025

Really loved this one!

Pretzel Logic by Steely Dan
Aug 27 2025

What a great album! I've been really loving Steely Dan lately. It's funky and chill. Just great background stuff and at the same time actually worth sitting down to listen to!

Only By The Night by Kings of Leon
Aug 28 2025

Not super interesting? But maybe I missed the point. Or maybe I'm just not helped by the hits from this album playing at the local Border's Books and Music back in the day.

Tarkus by Emerson, Lake & Palmer
Aug 29 2025

Not my jam, that's for sure

The Atomic Mr Basie by Count Basie & His Orchestra
Sep 01 2025

This one feels like what I imagine "jazz" to sound like. Not sure how I feel about it.

Wild Is The Wind by Nina Simone
Sep 09 2025

Really enjoyed this one! Deep, somber, heavy sounds. Beautiful.

Oar by Alexander 'Skip' Spence
Sep 10 2025

This one was a little tough to follow for me. At times it skewed folk, which I liked. But other times I just got lost

Stand! by Sly & The Family Stone
Sep 29 2025

Another fun one! I'm always up for a little Sly but this is my first time listening to a full Sly album, start to finish. I enjoyed the experience. Can't say there were any surprises, and I liked that too. Solid album to start the day with.

Joan Armatrading by Joan Armatrading
Oct 10 2025

Loved this one. Never heard of Joan Armatrading before but what a lovely album! Funky, smooth, full of emotion but never overbearing. This and a cup of coffee is an amazing way to start a fall morning.

The Doors by The Doors
Oct 13 2025

Better believe I get down to The Doors. In Almost Famous Lester Bangs (played by Philip Seymour Hoffman) says, "The Doors? Jim Morrison? He's a drunken buffoon posing as a poet... Give me The Guess Who. They got the courage to be drunken buffoons, which makes them poetic." And I think that's nice. Sometimes you have to take a few swings above your weight class. Jim and the boys sure do on this record.

Hunky Dory by David Bowie
Oct 17 2025

Sets the tone with the first one and stays right there for the entire album. Wall to wall Bowie, baybeee!!!!

Time Out by The Dave Brubeck Quartet
Oct 20 2025

This one started out far too busy for what I was prepared for. I need to go back and give it another go in a different frame of mind.

All Directions by The Temptations
Oct 27 2025

I really enjoyed this one! It was interesting how the album sort of slowed down from start to finish

Live! by Fela Kuti
Nov 06 2025

Loved it! Vivacious

Maggot Brain by Funkadelic
Nov 10 2025

Absolutely magnificent. Start to finish this one rips.

Abraxas by Santana
Dec 15 2025

Sensational! High energy. Beautifully blends piano and guitar over soulful, funky rhythms. Best enjoyed on a rainy morning with a cup of coffee when you have a BUNCH to get done today

Elephant by The White Stripes
Dec 16 2025
