Wow my first album of 1001! While I would not purposefully put this album on again, I did not mind listening to it at all. My favourite song was the first track, Immigrés / Bitim Rew as I found myself dancing along to it. Although this album was not a keeper for me, it was the perfect one to start with, it was fun but certainly outside of what I would normally pick!
3.5/5 I enjoyed this! No favourite track as I liked them all for different reasons.
This was an interesting one as I loved some of the songs but also hard rock is the only genre I just cannot enjoy so some of this was really difficult to get through. Even when I didn't like the music I appreciated the lyrics, but when the music was "softer", I loved both! My favourite song was 'Lily' as I enjoyed the story telling! I also liked 'Tonight, Tonight', 'Galapogos', 'Farewell and Goodnight' and '1979'.
I debated rating this 3/5 cause it's so painfully american but oh well it's too good. I'm glad he was convinced to keep 'no surrender' in the album as it's my favourite along with 'working on the highway' 'downbound train' and of course 'i'm on fire'.
I really liked this one especially zombie!
I loved this! No favourite as I was occupied while listening to it but I thoroughly enjoyed the entire album.
Loved it! Perfection! This is the kind of album I am doing this for. I think my favourite is 'When I Grow Too Old to Dream'.
4.5/5 The only reason this is not a 5 is I found some songs to be a little boring (but nothing bad) however a lot of these songs sent me to orbit they ate so hard. 'Dos Cruces' is for sure a new favourite for me ; it was so good I nearly rated the album 5/5. Like sooo good! I'm listening as I write this. And the song after it 'Um Girassol da Cor do Seu Cabelo' is incredible as well. In fact, now that song is playing and I think its my fav on the album. Both of them back to back DEVOURED! I will for sure listen to this album again. many times.
2.5/5 idk I can appreciate this but I don't love any songs and I don't like most of them. Overall it was fine but I had to skip the second half of 'Mote'. I definitely preferred the songs the woman "sang" and I enjoyed some of the playful lyrics. Interestingly, i think my fav was 'Disappearer'.
Nothing life changing but nothing wrong with it. I liked 'I Wish I Was Your Mother' and everything else was fine.
I think I prefer this to Born In The U.S.A. overall; Less standouts but i don't dislike any of these songs. I would listen to this again! Favs- Atlantic City, Nebraska, Johnny 99.
This felt twice as long as it was. Nothing awful but not my thing. My favourite was 'Strange Brew' so it only went downhill for me after although I did like 'Mother's Lament' but I assume that's only cause it was finally a change from the rest of the album and as it's the last song I was just relieved.
3.5/5 This was kinda fun but I just found out there are like 20 more albums of this artist coming and well... this would have been enough for me. Fav- Tokyo Storm Warning
This is the first artist/group i've come across that I already listen to their music but didn't realize. I LOVE 'Bonita Applebum' but haven't really listened to other songs by A Tribe Called Quest. While none of these songs quite reached the mark of that song for me, they were all great! Fav- Buggin' Out
this was fine. I don't have much else to say. I kept zoning out while listening but it was good background music to my thoughts. Decently enjoyable. Fav- Till the Morning Comes
What was that. These weren't the least enjoyable songs i've listened to while doing this (I didn't have to skip any) but it's the first album where I can't see the vision at all. It seems purposefully bad. It could be a mediocre album if they had a different singer instead of this moaning guy who sounds like a high retail worker annoyed you asked him a question. Instead of a band they should have been a poetry club or something. It's a shame they wasted these lyrics.
Okay so I'm 20 albums in and this is my third Springsteen album. I rated the other two 4/5 but this whole time those ratings felt weird cause I wasn't excited every time another album of his came up, like each song I could tell was a great song and lyrics, right up my alley, but I didn't enjoy it per se. Anyway, this album has made me realize it's because I don't like his voice. This makes sense as I have always enjoyed covers of his songs but never gotten into his music. I didn't like these songs as much as the other ones though (Nebraska & Born In the U.S.A.) so overall nothing really stood out to me on this one other than bad (his voice) and good (Born to Run).
The second I put this on, my cat got so stressed he started freaking out. I guess he really hated this album but I liked it well enough :)
3.5/5 I can tell this is amazing, and potentially a perfect album but punk just isn't my thing so this was more appreciation than enjoyment for me
I'm honestly shocked I liked it as much as I did because I normally hate hard rock but I guess that's why i'm doing this!
I thought this was kinda random then laughed when I realized I have this artist in my library. I loved some of these songs for a specific vibe but a lot of these were odd. This was also veryyy long. Fav- Rhubarb Orc. 19.53 Rev
Utter perfection. Unfortunately, if it came out today it would be just as applicable. Favs- Fast Car, She's Got Her Ticket, Talkin' Bout a Revolution
4.5/5 So fun! Perfect at what it is. Favs- One Way or Another, 11:59, I'm Gonna Love You Too,
This is good but inconsistent for me. I've enjoyed other jazz albums more but some of the songs were great! Fav-Nomali
This obviously would have been fun live and it wasn't bad but I probably won't listen to it again. My favourite part was when they played joy to the world for like three seconds in 'you don't love me'. Fav- Statesboro Blues
It sounds like someone who likes 90s music used GarageBand for the first time. Fav- Kemistry
Okayyy yeah this is fun! I don't know why I like it so much but I do. Fav- Make It Rain
Some pretty decent jazz. Fav- Bitches Brew
This album encapsulates why I'm doing all this. Favs- All I Need, Sexy Boy
Definitely odd but I listened while I was focused on something else and it was pretty good background music. It got me locked in. I probably wouldn't enjoy it in any other context though. Fav- Tow Truck
So cozy and perfect! I loved every second of it.
