Penance Soiree by The Icarus Line

Love the pixies. classic punk and rock and from my home town. they have a roughness that's hard to emulate since any attempts at imitation become your own voice.

Blackstar by David Bowie
Aug 13 2025

Damn, it's blackstar. It came out right before his death and he's singing on his literal death bed. While I disagree with folks in that Bowie is more of an acquired taste than most, I consider this an incredible swan song of his work. Exceptionally approuchable as an album in a way more of his work is now

Pretenders by Pretenders
Aug 14 2025

Some of the British invasion with some of the clearest sounds. Their first album was one of the best, though I did listen to the remaster from 2018. And the demos. It's hard to tell how much of this is me purely enjoying it, or how it felt like putting on comfy old slippers and sitting in a well loved couch to relax

Raw Power by The Stooges
Aug 15 2025

The stooges, with Iggy pops crooning vocals. Hot damn. There's an incredible energy and old-school rock down. Overdrive, minor reverb, equipment that's fuzzy and a bit shitty but by god all of that has not become the appeal and the charm.

Ready To Die by The Notorious B.I.G.
Aug 18 2025

A wild ride. I've never actually listened to the whole thing all the way through, only ever catching the singles. Insane how much of a legacy this album and culture and era has, even today. I was tripping when I saw that it was making shawty and timbs jokes, and honestly disheartened at how a good day in the man's life was one without violence. Is it good musically? It's less than the some of its parts. Is it good as art? It's sublime. It's raising the bar for what I SHOULD call a 5 star.

All Things Must Pass by George Harrison
Aug 19 2025

Just never really got into the man. I love every individual part, from the voice to the guitar to the basslines, but together it just slides off my noggin

Hunky Dory by David Bowie
Aug 20 2025

Definitely an album. While I love it and see how every coffeeshop musician adores it, not my fav

Foo Fighters by Foo Fighters
Aug 21 2025

I love thr ray gun but something about the Foo Fighters always felt off. For every learn to fly there's an album I don't like. The Alt Rock version of Guns n Roses

Street Signs by Ozomatli
Aug 29 2025

Solid grooving, genre mashup from hiphop to classic mexican to even the early touches of lofi

Surfer Rosa by Pixies
Sep 09 2025

Scott 2 by Scott Walker
Sep 25 2025

Jackie was a real treat, and the rest had a great experimental vibe

American Idiot by Green Day
Sep 30 2025

it's american idiot. I gotta 5 star it

Electric Prunes by The Electric Prunes
Oct 01 2025

it sounds like a coffee house soul singer that just heard the beatles for the first time

Brothers by The Black Keys
Oct 02 2025
Arrival by ABBA
Oct 07 2025

I mean it's abba. THE Abba. That said, it's wild how little the album actually comes together. I don't know if the banger single after single is a product of time, or intentionality, but it's fascinating to see.
