Architecture And Morality
Orchestral Manoeuvres In The DarkWeird, gothy, but fun. Thoroughly enjoyed it.
Weird, gothy, but fun. Thoroughly enjoyed it.
I forgot how much I loved Tracy Chapman, and hadn’t heard anything besides Fast Car in years.
Despite this not being my most favorite band or album, if I had to make a time capsule for a future millennia, I’d put this album in it. So many hits, and it’s a perfect reflection of the direction music was moving in at the time. Fun fact: the doors performed at my high school when they were just starting!
A classic, one of my favorites. You really can’t go wrong with Coltrane.
I audibly gasped when I saw this was my album for the day. Even though I’m a 90’s baby, my mom introduced me to the Go-Gos early and I’ve always had a special relationship with this album, so my review is biased. It’s fun, it’s a little feminist, it’s surfy, it’s funky. Do the songs get a little repetitive? Sure, but never in a bad way. Best songs are This Town and Automatic. Belinda’s vocals are just as good so many years later.
A classic - I remember longboarding my neighborhood hills after school listening to this album all the time. Contains the best song ever written about road rage. Objectively I know it’s not the worlds greatest album, but it was a staple of the time and I still enjoy it just as much as I did when I was a kid.
Im just imagining a bunch of suburban young adults experimenting gently with drugs for the first time, thinking frampton is a genius. This was a tough listen for me, and I didn’t truly enjoy any of these songs. I am also biased because I hate live albums, they’re just not for me. Sorry Peter, I don’t think I’m your target audience.
Im one of those people who usually values lyrics last - just a personal preference, but with Leonard Cohen, his writing is so profound and relatable that even to me it’s the highlight of his music. I love this album.
A modern day diva, Adele is amazing. This album came out the year I graduated high school so I may be biased. Only couldn’t give it five stars because it drops off for a couple songs in the middle, sounding a little more like country ballads and the musicians not matching Adele’s energy.
I had no clue who these guys were but this was pretty awesome.
I really hate live albums, and I’m ambivalent about The Who, but this was pretty decent. Recorded really beautifully for the time, and a couple songs I’d never heard before surprised me. Would listen again, maybe.
I like Hot Chip a lot but I get why they’re not for everyone. This album is solid, and too often forgotten. I love a band that (successfully) gets weird.
