Bad Company
Bad CompanyFeels like the music industry trying desperately to hold onto white boy blues rock in its purest form. Banal lyricism with some fun moments. Reminds me of 107.7 the bone’s interstitial ads. Who shoots seagulls?

Chili Peppers at their peak popularity. Certainly not my favorite of their projects but undoubtedly the album I listened to the most as a teenager. Bleak lyrics of addicts dealing with their popularity. The band has really settled into their stereotypical sound by this album. Only a few outliers that keep it from being one cohesive sound. As the hands of time marched on and the members—in their own words—recounted sexual escapades with minors during this and earlier eras, my love for the band waned. I tried listening to this album with fresh ears. Remembering how well they played together. Songs that sound like a party but hold a deep sadness in their lyricism really spoke to me in my youth. Extremely pleasing vocal harmonies on a number of the tracks. Flea’s bass tone is one of the best. RHCP will always have a place in my heart, even with them being one of the harder artists to separate from the art.
An album of Organ cover music. Booker T is a great player but this album wouldn’t be on here if it wasn’t for Green Onions
Golden era of hip hop. Quite possibly the most uncleared samples i’ve ever heard on an album. Black excellence. Revolutionary words. Fight the Power as the final track to send a clear message and that message is strong.
I burned holes in this CD as a teen. Jack has great tones. Certainly ushered in a new era of mainstream ‘authentic’ rock n roll.
Pure funky disco. Nile Rodgers’ guitar tone influenced the world. Forever classics.
Amazing. Never really intentionally listened to Madonna. The sound production on this album is peak. Holds up 25 years later. Wide berth of musical styles. Perhaps that’s the concept of the album. Lyrically, not always bangers, but great bits and pieces.
Fantastic voice! So much style range!
Brian Wilson is a genius.
Really groundbreaking synth work for the time, lyrically, not the most expansive. Who knows where we would be now without Kraftwerk!
Willie sings sad songs about falling out of love. No complaints
Cyprus Hill meets Sublime
be
funky soulful and kinda strange.
The Beatles
beautiful voice and musical arrangements
One of the best rock and roll albums of all time
good ol punk rock. makes me wanna skate. or play crazy taxi
Big day for melancholy
Unique blend of atmospheres. Called by critics “techno’s first concept album”, to which I reply, *cough* Aphex Twin *cough*. Although there’s no comparison, but certainly they were both occupying this realm that would later be coined “IDM”. Good album
