Bridge Over Troubled Water by Simon & Garfunkel
Nov 06 2025

These guys commercialized folk music while wearing those outfits, so that’s something. I had to learn a dance to Cecelia at summer camp and unfortunately that song has lived deep in my subconscious ever since. I think it’s worth reconsidering the proposition that sparrow > snail - I have a pet snail and he’s pretty cool.

On The Beach by Neil Young
Nov 07 2025

This was great, no notes Neil

Blood Sugar Sex Magik by Red Hot Chili Peppers
Nov 10 2025

The definitive RHCP album from the funk era. Nostalgia album for me

The ArchAndroid by Janelle Monáe
Nov 11 2025

This was a big album when I was in college. It’s beautiful and complex from an artistic standpoint, but I feel like she really excels more in live shows. I like the Saul Williams track and War of the Roses. I saw her play Eastside Drive-In ca 2010. Of Montreal opened for her, if that gives an idea of how progressive her music was at the time. We were there to see if Kevin Barnes would ride a live horse naked on stage. Her live show was incredible and I was blown away by it. She also did a great Austin City Limits taping.

Pretenders by Pretenders
Nov 12 2025

Chrissie Hynde is such an icon and had an interesting life during this time period. I liked this album but it felt a little long and somewhat dated listening with fresh ears today.

Stephen Stills by Stephen Stills
Nov 14 2025

Is this album Stills going?

Surfer Rosa by Pixies
Nov 18 2025

I love this album and think it’s their best. You can see the range of this band and how they were influenced by a variety of progressive genres. This album inspired so many bands that I love and I understand why.

Mask by Bauhaus
Nov 21 2025

This was a cool album, I enjoyed the vibes

British Steel by Judas Priest
Nov 24 2025

“Breaking the Law” really resonated with Jack

69 Love Songs by The Magnetic Fields
Nov 26 2025

I only made it halfway through, but to be fair it was a LONG album. I generally liked the sound but the songs felt repetitive after a while.

Dec 01 2025

Some of these songs feel very overplayed now, but it was fun to revisit this album. I haven’t listened to the whole album in a long time and there are some great songs on here.

Justified by Justin Timberlake
Dec 04 2025

This album really took me back to a certain time and was a fun re-listen. This was a pretty innovative mix of pop and R&B for mainstream music at the time of release. I love when this album makes an appearance in the movie LadyBird.

Brilliant Corners by Thelonious Monk
Dec 09 2025

I enjoyed this, I thought it was progressive and Brilliant Corners was a strong way to start the album. I particularly liked Bue-La. But I don’t think his best songs are on this album so I thought this was kind of an odd pick for the album list

Dec 11 2025

The sound track to every ski town in the 90s. Some of the songs are good, some are bad. I wouldn’t want to listen to this often but it was fun for a little while

Is This It by The Strokes
Dec 16 2025

Great album - I enjoyed revisiting it. I love Julian Casablancas voice and the guitar work on this album is good. This album made a huge impression on me when I was younger and I remember having a physical copy of this cd in the glove box of my first car

Eagles by Eagles
Dec 23 2025

Great album - I enjoyed relistening. It was interesting to learn that he lived in the apartment above Jackson Browne

Chris by Christine and the Queens
Dec 24 2025

Not my thing

Bayou Country by Creedence Clearwater Revival
Dec 29 2025

Great album

The Man Machine by Kraftwerk
Dec 30 2025

This made me feel like I was in an episode of Stranger Things

Ramones by Ramones
Jan 05 2026

An iconic album with some great songs. Judy is a Punk is my favorite Ramones song. Approachable, entry level punk rock that inspired some amazing bands

The Grand Tour by George Jones
Jan 09 2026

TLDR; George is going through a lot in his relationships and he’s very sad
