1001 Albums Summary

Quite a fun, funky album with interesting harmonies but repetitive with no standout tracks.

Absolute classic, haunting, melodic, iconic.

Fist through and through listen of the Smiths, and despite trying to cast aside my conscious and unconscious biases about Morrisey, I find his dreary yodelling too much to bear. Can't knock Marr and the rest, but fuck me - it is like trying to eat a potentially nice sandwich in the rain.

A little bit boring and dreary - like Dylan on valium. Don't hate it though but maybe just wasn't the right album to fit my mood today.

Pretty good. Some funky tunes, first album experience. Weirdly sounds like someone doing an impression of Bowie its so Bowie.

Pretty good, a couple of drony 8 min tunes but supplemented by more upbeat classics.

Crunchy and glorious

This is actually a good listen which went under my radar at the time. Probably because it was after 2004 and I had bagged a wife by then.

As an adolescence staple I thought I'd enjoy this more than I did. Many Men, Patiently Waiting and a couple of other bangers stand out but otherwise a tiiiiny bit pedestrian and lacks the depth of being an absolute classic.

I actually found this quite boring. Her lilting haunting hooting almost sent me to sleep a few times. Not ideal when driving. Nothing Compares 2 U is a tuuuuuune though.

Pretty fun.

Luckily the later crazy Ye doesn't filter through to this absolute banger. So many forgotten classics, Slow Jamz etc. maybe 5 is a stretch but quality production, wordsmithing etc. love it.

Still an amazing album, but a step down from college dropout. He's a lunatic and tragic waste of talent.

Big ball of noise. I can appreciate the talent but it wasn't what I wanted or needed today. Would be a 1 star based on my enjoyment of it, but maybe with the right lens and frame of mind I would view it differently but honestly I couldn't wait for it to end but gave it another star just so it wouldn't stink up my dashboard. Just when I thought it would the last song is nearly bloody 20 mins long.

Pretty good post punk type noise, but one song just kind of blends into the other.

Opening riffs are quite good, then descends into a song being played on double speed. Angel of Death is super weird. Drumming is insane. Musically very gifted but pointed at the wrong direction for my tastes (today)

Favourite Jay-Z album, class tunes, song cry etc. So good, beats black album marginally into first place jigga
