Popular Reviews

Hot Buttered Soul by Isaac Hayes

the basslines… the horn arranging… the vocals… the fucking closing track…. OH.

KIWANUKA by Michael Kiwanuka

what a wonderful record. Best contemporary soul record i’ve heard in a bit, no thanks to the psych-rock influence at times. lush textures, heartbreaking lyrics- it’s got it all!!!

Songs From The Big Chair by Tears For Fears
Dec 15 2025

about as perfect as a pop record could be. it’s moody, it’s boundary pushing, it’s got that familiarity in the lyrics that change with each listen and as you grow older… it’s got it all!

Amnesiac by Radiohead
Dec 16 2025

the parts that are interesting are Fine but i’d rather be listening to Kid A

Bayou Country by Creedence Clearwater Revival
Dec 17 2025

decidedly “not my thing”, but i thought it was fine overall. ccr are a band where i’d rather listen to their hits as opposed to their actual records.

god i love curtis so much. not my favorite project of his, but he’s a revolutionary. he tells it like it is and sounds like he’s holding nothing back. sexy but bleak!! great stuff

Hot Buttered Soul by Isaac Hayes

the basslines… the horn arranging… the vocals… the fucking closing track…. OH.

Hejira by Joni Mitchell
Dec 21 2025

don’t even get me started on this record. jaco’s bass work on these recordings provide a firm foundation for some of the most concentrated yearning in Joni’s discography. though a record like Blue or Court & Spark i return to more often, Hejira still hits on those long late-night drives home from a show or on tour.

Modern Kosmology by Jane Weaver
Dec 22 2025

a sprawling symphonic dreampop delight! reminds me of broadcast and cold beat a bit. but it’s really its own thing, really lovely and definitely something i’ll be returning to sooner rather than later.

KIWANUKA by Michael Kiwanuka
Dec 23 2025

what a wonderful record. Best contemporary soul record i’ve heard in a bit, no thanks to the psych-rock influence at times. lush textures, heartbreaking lyrics- it’s got it all!!!

You Want It Darker by Leonard Cohen
Dec 27 2025

a larger than life spectacle made by one too. leonard’s vocals have never sounded better, but his bassy inflection never overshadows the instrumentation or the songwriting. a true swan song

Grace by Jeff Buckley
