1001 Albums Summary

A classic album, every song just hits right. No bad tracks on the album, and some have ascended to legendary status (and infamy in guitar stores). Either way, what a crazy album to start with, one of my favorite bands still.

At first listen, it kind of put me off guard. Yes, the playing is incredible, but it didn't stick to me. However, when you learn more about Jarrett and the buildup to this concert, it all comes together. They even made a film about it. All in all, the playing is beautiful, the fact that it's all improvised for the entire playthrough is something else. Incredible!

It’s a good album, there’s something about musicians doing covers of music outside of their genre in their style that I enjoy, like Willie Nelson’s Stardust.

Classic blues album, La Grange is a staple.

Zappa is a genius, but this album didn’t really stick to me. It’s also a reflection of its time, which is a positive I feel!

Raw and fun, you can feel its influence in other acts.

Fantastic album, but some songs felt repetitive and the beats just didn't stick. Only thing keeping it from being a 5, imo.

Kate Bush's very avant-garde approach to music can draw people in. I've always liked her hits, but it's taken me a bit to actually get through the album. That's a testament to the focus I need to actually push through. I feel like it'll grow on me in time.

Fantastic album about an America that never existed but we wish did. Oh if only Bono didn’t let his ego take over…

Great record, one of the pillars of punk.

I enjoyed the songs that blended mariachi music, however some songs definitely follow the typical country formula that we see today, along with some gospel and confederate apologist sentiments.

Was a fun album, first time listening to this artist and I enjoyed it.

I mean... it has Rollin' and that song is forever a banger. I'll give it a 3, cannot deny the talents of Wes Borland.

Some notable standards, the harmonies are great, but they do kind of grow long in one sitting.

The first parts of this album are… something. Especially Mother. The album ends on an incredible run though!

The Steely Dan touches are all there, just without the sleaze and debauchery that I love about Steely Dan. IGY is a standout for good reason.

A classic, sets the standard for live unplugged music from the Grunge era. I'm from Seattle, has to be a 5.

A metal classic, seen as some as the beginning of the end for Metallica, but was my first steps into heavier metal after growing up with Black Sabbath and Ozzy.

Time of the Season is a classic, the Zombies are an underrated band!

One of the more misunderstood songs of all time is the namesake of this album. It's tragic that the problems in this album are still felt today. What a classic.

Another piece in Stevie's immaculate run.

Thoroughly enjoyed this. It was my introduction to Genesis despite enjoying both Peter Gabriel and Phil Collins!
