Pet Sounds by The Beach Boys

I've been waiting for this. I love The Beach Boys and their usual upbeat style. Though this strays from their usual, the mellowness of this album was a beautiful showcase of their talent as a band. The way this group truly makes anything sound outstanding amazes me.

Led Zeppelin by Led Zeppelin
Dec 23 2025

Jimmy Page is my favorite person in the history of forever. Love Zepp, and love this album!

Fleet Foxes by Fleet Foxes
Dec 25 2025

I like it. The only major issue with it is that with every good thing there is to say, there is always a "but," statement. It's gorgeous, but you can find this exact sound in so many other albums. It works, but I would never reach for it when there are other albums that capture these exact emotions in a more powerful and captivating way.

Rubber Soul by Beatles
May 03 2026

Adore adore adore The Beatles. Definitely my favorite album from them. I think it's crazy that, even though they recorded together for such a short time, almost all music made during or after Beatlemania connects back to them.

Endtroducing..... by DJ Shadow
May 04 2026

This is one of those albums where if anyone saying it's their favorite, they're lying in hopes you won't give it a listen. It's background music. It works for what it is, and I would listen if nothing else was sounding right, but it's just boring. The thing is: it has so much potential. The beats are good, the tone is there, it's just missing an element (that would make it interesting).

Tusk by Fleetwood Mac
May 05 2026

I think that coming out after their most iconic album, Rumors, it was hard not to try and step back into that light with Tusk. However, seldom for a few songs, this album just sounds like the scraps from Rumors. I adore Fleetwood Mac, but I would have to skip too many songs to ever pick up this album in particular.

Garbage by Garbage
May 06 2026

Right off the bat.. It's interesting. I'm spoiled by "better" music in this genre and from this time period, but I don't hate it. I wouldn't call it anything better than good. It has emotion, but it's just.. bland.

Entertainment by Gang Of Four
May 07 2026

It's funky. The lyrics are a bunch of bullshit (positive). The instrumentals are interesting. I want to like it. Everything just seems almost jammed together, and don't even get me started on what they were trying to do with the guitar in this. I like the rhythm, and the lyrics, but it's just not something I would ever pick up again.

Life's Too Good by The Sugarcubes
May 08 2026

This is friggin awesome. I love the Icelandic. The entire album has a time and place, but gosh, does it do it perfectly.

Pet Sounds by The Beach Boys
May 09 2026

I've been waiting for this. I love The Beach Boys and their usual upbeat style. Though this strays from their usual, the mellowness of this album was a beautiful showcase of their talent as a band. The way this group truly makes anything sound outstanding amazes me.

Innervisions by Stevie Wonder
May 11 2026

I have been waiting for this. Stevie Wonder is a genius and there is truly not a song I can say that I don't enjoy from this album, or him in general.

Porcupine by Echo And The Bunnymen
May 13 2026
The Undertones by The Undertones
May 14 2026

I mean... It's okay? It gets repetitive and the songs are too short to really get into them.

I See A Darkness by Bonnie "Prince" Billy
May 15 2026

I know it would hit in dark moments. I, however, am a pretty positive guy and the sulking-ness of this album is dragged rather than portrayed. No songs really stood out. But then again, none ever do with these albums. It has potential, and the elements are there, but it doesn't dive deep enough into any of them to be called good.

xx by The xx
May 16 2026

They all sound so bashful. Do they know that music tends to be more enjoyable when it doesn't sound like a middle school class popcorn reading?

Wonderful Rainbow by Lightning Bolt
May 17 2026

You know the music they play in movies to show a character is super edgy? It's noise pollution at its finest. The bad-ness of this album is almost poetic. I know the whole point of this genre is to make a bunch of bullshit, but oh my gosh. I'll give it to them, though, it's interesting.

Calenture by The Triffids
May 18 2026

The concept is there. However, it's executed so poorly. The lyrics read like a parody, and the songs sound like they are working around McComb's voice rather than with him. While it's not the worst thing I've ever heard, these topics and feelings are portrayed so much better in other songs from this time period. I wouldn't recommend it, let alone group it with "1001 Albums You Must Hear Before You Die."

The Cars by The Cars
May 19 2026

This album was just what I needed.

Make Yourself by Incubus
May 20 2026

He says words so satisfyingly. It's kinda slop but I like it??

We Are Family by Sister Sledge
May 21 2026

What I've gathered from listening and doing some further research: Disco music is so incredibly slept on. The upbeat, feel-good feel of these songs are executed so well. "We Are Family" was known to me as just another song that plays at every white wedding. Little did I know the album would hold so many gems. It's the kind of music you dance alone to, even if it's just tapping your foot to the beat. "He's the Greatest Dancer" is the perfect start to set the tone, and the diversity through the more mellow songs like "Somebody Loves Me" and the more upbeat style in songs "Thinking of You" and "We Are Family" keeps the album interesting and fun. It's an easy listen. Being from PA myself, it was very cool to learn the history and the impact Sister Sledge made in not only from Philadelphia to Pittsburgh, but nationwide.

Morrison Hotel by The Doors

You either love or hate The Doors. I'm happy to say I'm in the first group.
