1001 Albums Summary

Ok truthfully I didn’t get all the way through it, but “A Man Needs a Maid” goes kinda crazy. I’m not even sure how much I like it but the orchestral backing is super interesting. I like how earnest it is

Basically impossible to disentangle my feelings about this album from my affection for mamma mia

Not my thing. Didn’t like the metronome-y woodblock sound in the back of a few of the tracks

I think it’s pretty good! Dire Straights belongs to a category of bands that I haven’t bothered distinguishing from Steely Dan in my head. Whatever!

All-timer

Hadn’t heard of white denim before yesterday. This was pretty fun to listen to while we made bucatini carbonara. Except we didn’t have bacon or guanciale or whatever so we just used chicken but kind of over-salted it to replicate the flavor and it turned out really good! Do you think this got included because there just aren’t 1001 super famous records out there, or did they wanna mix in some more obscure stuff. I’m leaning toward the latter.

Kind of moodier than my preferred Stevie wonder album (songs in the key of life) but Don’t You Worry Bout a Thing alone makes this a masterpiece

Some of my favorite songs in high school. Heavy metal drummer totally blew me away on this listen

Been listening to these albums at the gym and this is the first one that felt like appropriate gym music

Never really listened to much Prince (shamefully), so it was crazy listening to this as an Of Montreal fan and realizing they have several albums that are essentially Prince covers

I liked Matty groves and the medley but a lot of this kinda blended together for me
