Sunday Bloody Sunday and New Year’s Day are both just astoundingly good songs. Very sharp performances from the whole band. The rest of the album is also strong. It deserves all the praise it gets. Only knocking a star because some songs are just not as memorable as the two I mentioned.

she is very gorgeous TO ME

It’s fine. Skin can definitely sing. I’m just bored. Doesn’t offer me anything I haven’t already heard elsewhere. Not a memorable album apart from Skin’s persona as frontwoman.

If you like sitars you are in for a treat

Harmonica! Synth! Dog barks, seagulls, and sleigh bells on the same track! Quirky indie rock for white men in their forties who are a respectful amount of perverted. The slower songs (Wonderful, Troubles) make me feel like I’m dozing off in the late afternoon with a fever (not sure if this is complimentary or not).

Sade is the perfect woman. The record definitely puts its strongest tracks at the front. There are a few snoozers in the middle and second half but the record ends on a very strong note with the closing track. Overall an incredible, classic listen, one for the music history books.

I mean it’s JONI MITCHELL. Not my favorite record of hers but stellar nonetheless. “Help Me” is one of my favorite songs of hers. And I had never heard the closer “Twisted” before but loved the jazz elements, the humor, and her performance. A solid showing from one of the best to ever do it.

I was already a big fan of Nothing Compares 2 U and I was really pleasantly surprised by this album. The first track started off sleepy so I was worried at first that I wouldn’t enjoy the listen and that this would be a One Hit Wonder type of scenario, but luckily that was not the case. Many of the tracks start off from a slow and unassuming place and evolve into something entirely different. Forceful, meditative, singular, at times quiet but never lacking life. I suspect I’ll keep returning to several tracks long after this initial listen. Favorite songs: I Am Stretched On Your Grave, The Emperor’s New Clothes, You Cause As Much Sorrow, The Last Day of Our Acquaintance. Rest in peace Sinéad we miss you so much

i had fun but i don't see myself revisiting this album often. the closing track, however.....i played it on loop for hours. one of his best songs.

Really solid song structures all around, and strong performances from Debbie and the band. I feel like besides the heavy hitters (“One Way or Another,” “Heart of Glass”) the songs are just Alright

over an hour of jimi doing what he was born to do. he’s kinda just in his own universe here. it’s great, it’s just so long, and doesn’t really work as a cohesive Album

An absolutely insane debut from a band of scraggly British boys who were all either nineteen or just barely twenty years old. The album slumps just a little in the middle, but the number of strong and memorable tracks far outweighs the weaker tracks. Nostalgia aside, this is one of the best indie rock albums of its era. An essential listen for understanding that period in music. ALL YOU PEOPLE ARE VAMPIRES

they sure do love repeating the same line ten times in a row

I had a jangly old time. I will probably not ever return to this album unless I am on a road trip with a handsome man who gives me adventurous cowboy vibes, I’m in the passenger seat and he hands me the aux (our hands brush briefly and I feel a jolt), I’m sipping gas station coffee and we have the windows down, it’s a beautiful day somewhere between Vegas and Flagstaff, clear skies, 76 degrees, I’m in denim shorts, no makeup, no worries. I turn on this album and he knows it from the first notes, knows every word.

HER NAME IS RIO AND SHE DANCES ON THE SAND

Great record! Found a few gems on this that I had never heard before—adding them to my list of favorite U2 songs (“So Cruel,” “The Fly,” “Tryin’ to Throw Your Arms Around the World”) Also, it’s absolutely criminal how much better than the original Jack White’s cover of Love Is Blindness is. It’s almost mean how much better it is. If I were Bono I would have gone into hiding after that cover was released.

I was so pleasantly surprised by this album. Non-stop bangers that didn’t start to slow down until the 7th track. I was also surprised to learn how many Cyndi Lauper songs I already knew, and that they’re all on this one album.

I’m mad about how good the first two tracks are—considering how much of an evil freak Michael Jackson was. The rest of the album is just Okay

really strange borderline annoying production choices. i feel like they produced this album without headphones on and then didn’t listen to the final product before hitting publish lol

an incredibly top-heavy record. the first batch of songs is just classic banger after classic banger. things really take a nose dive at the halfway point and the back half gets SLEEPY.
