The ArchAndroid by Janelle Monáe

So you can’t tell an album from its cover! I saw the image and thought, “some stupid, lame R&B thing”. I was 100% wrong! Janelle is the real thing. I haven’t heard anything this fresh in a LONG time! I’m a big fan now and will be buying this record and checking out more of her work! 5/5!

The Gershwin Songbook by Ella Fitzgerald
Feb 13 2026

Excellent recording and beautifully cleaned up. Ella was a world-class singer, and the nuances show with each version of the Gershwin song catalog. I grew up with this kind of music and really grew to hate weepy violins and big brass sections. I still hate that shit. Ella would have been better with a simpler, less bombastic arrangement.

So I know this is a seminal work and part of this 1001 album thing I have to listen to before I die, but there’s only so much f%*k and f&$k that I can listen to. Ice T did a more succinct version of f@&k the police years later and managed not to beat a dead horse like these guys did.

Disintegration by The Cure
Feb 18 2026

I got this album at the urging of my friend who was full on goth when it was released. Loved it then and it still holds up! It’s not a 5 in my book but a solid 4!

Feb 19 2026

This must have been one hell of a show! I admit that I don’t know much about Sam Cooke except that he was a (the) legendary soul man whose life was tragically cut short soon after this recording was made. I was amazed to hear the melodies that evoked so many rock and pop songs that were chart makers. I gotta dive into his stuff more!

Beggars Banquet by The Rolling Stones
Feb 20 2026

A couple of good hits but I could never understand why some simple lads from England want to sound like a swamp band from the Deep South. The piano player was good at least. Keith was good as always.

The ArchAndroid by Janelle Monáe
Feb 23 2026

Either Or by Elliott Smith
Feb 24 2026

I am not a fan of bored, drug addled disaffected guys with guitars. I don’t understand the appeal of melancholy especially with vocalists that are so weak they can’t even be mixed properly.

Behaviour by Pet Shop Boys
Feb 27 2026

I thought this was a middle-of-the-road effort from TPSB- the songwriting and product as always were top notch as always but none of the songs grabbed me.

Out Of The Blue by Electric Light Orchestra
Mar 02 2026

This is the first record I purchased in 1977, and it is still one of my favorites. This album is what defines ELO and Jeff Lynne's songwriting talents. I mean, who writes a double record in two weeks that would go on to sell 10M+ copies? This one gets an 11!

Love this! I always wanted to add some Marty Robbin’s to my library and here it is! Most of my family is in El Paso and Mr Robbins is SO descriptive that you can really feel the place and put yourself in the saddle.

Pump by Aerosmith
Mar 06 2026

I hated this album when it came out and I still hate it.

Mar 10 2026

I didn't know what to expect, having never listened to a FBS album in it's entirety. There were some good bits and not so good bits so I might wind up getting a copy for shits and giggles.

Isn't Anything by My Bloody Valentine
Mar 11 2026

Didn't come up on Apple Music...

War by U2
Mar 12 2026

Great record- great stuff back when they were still hungry and not nearly as sanctimonious as they are now. A classic!

Pink Moon by Nick Drake
Mar 16 2026

Great voice, not into the "guy with his guitar"...

Basket of Light by Pentangle
Mar 20 2026

Good hippy music, but unfortunately I’m not a hippy.

Moon Safari by Air
Mar 23 2026

Still one of my favorites!
