Ellington at Newport by Duke Ellington

admittedly, i didn’t finish this album. i put it off until 5pm and then listened to about an hour and a half of it. i liked what i heard, but you gotta be a serious jazz fan to sit down and listen to a 2 hour live album.

Heroes by David Bowie
Feb 17 2026

I've seen this album cover, but I've never actually listened to the album until now. Everything on this album from Bowie is relatively un-remarkable. Good, just not remarkable. The three Brian Eno tracks are phenomenal though. I actually thought to myself "Hmm... these sound like Brian Eno." Before googling it lmao. Anyways tracks 7-9 could be their own EP, and I'd be happy.

Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness by The Smashing Pumpkins
Feb 18 2026

Going into this album, I didn’t really like the Smashing Pumpkins. And seeing that the album was 2 hours long, I was overwhelmed. I listened to it on the bus ride to class, while waiting for class, walking out of class, eating lunch, waiting for my next class, then i listened to them walking home. The album justifies its length, and I’m glad I got to listen to it

Guero by Beck
Feb 19 2026

Let me start out by saying that before listening to this album, I was unfamiliar with Beck. I'd listened to "Loser" and that was a guilty pleasure song for me for a while, but who doesn't know that song. Anyways, I had no idea that Beck is actually just one guy. That's crazy, and he's insanely talented. That said, I don't think this album is for me. In my opinion, the first half is pretty solid, and I was pleasantly surprised at what all Beck can do, but I didn't get much of that by the end. Everything become homogeneous. The track that stood out to me the most was "Earthquake Weather." If earthquakes were a weather event, I think this song conjures up what it would look like outside before an earthquake.

Imagine by John Lennon

Thriller by Michael Jackson
Feb 21 2026

There are so many iconic tracks on just this one album, and even the less talked about tracks are bangers.

Third by Portishead
Feb 26 2026

lots of interesting sounds here. i like

Hard Again by Muddy Waters
Feb 27 2026

All of the songs on this album are good and Muddy Waters is a talented musician. That said, I'm not a fan of blues music in general. The songs are repetitive in nature and after about 3 minutes of the same riff, it gets a bit boring. Great musician, but not for me.

Foo Fighters by Foo Fighters
Feb 28 2026

Generic butt rock album. Not bad, just not something I'd listen to.

Ellington at Newport by Duke Ellington

admittedly, i didn’t finish this album. i put it off until 5pm and then listened to about an hour and a half of it. i liked what i heard, but you gotta be a serious jazz fan to sit down and listen to a 2 hour live album.

Bat Out Of Hell by Meat Loaf
Mar 04 2026

Genuinely didn't expect to love this album as much as I did. Maybe my mom does know ball.

The Band by The Band
Mar 05 2026

This reminds me of long drives with my grandparents. They didn't have any The Band CD's or anything, but they'd play 1960s country music similar to this. I don't see myself listening to this again though.

Underwater Moonlight by The Soft Boys
Mar 06 2026

I realized the original album was only 10 tracks long after i’d already listened to 23 out of the 40 tracks on the remaster. i thought the album was okay. i liked some of the songs. i don’t feel like this was particularly noteworthy for me though.

Tracy Chapman by Tracy Chapman
Mar 07 2026

tracy chapman wrote “Fast Car” and the luke combs version is a cover and everyone knew that except for me until today. chapman has a lovely voice and this album gives me warm fuzzy feelings.

The Message by Grandmaster Flash & The Furious Five
Mar 08 2026

This album makes me happy. I dig it.

Nevermind by Nirvana
Mar 09 2026

Giving this album anything less than a 5 would be blasphemous. Rest in peace Kurt.

Behaviour by Pet Shop Boys
Mar 12 2026

i love you pet shop boys.

Nick Of Time by Bonnie Raitt
Mar 13 2026

i did not like this album. it felt boring and forgettable. there’s lots of talent on this album and sonically, it’s pretty decent. there’s just nothing special about it to me. idk if i’m missing something.

The Gershwin Songbook by Ella Fitzgerald
Mar 14 2026

Ella Fitzgerald is a fantastic artist with a beautiful voice. She was highly influential and shaped the jazz movement. I can appreciate this choice, and I understand why it was included. It’s an important album. That said, just like with Ellington, I can’t make myself listen to any more than about an hour and a half of this. I liked what I heard, but I’ve heard enough.

Honky Tonk Heroes by Waylon Jennings
Mar 18 2026

I didn’t expect to love this album as much as I did, and I think I loved it because it reminded me of car rides with my grandparents. I also just feel connected to my roots when I listen to old country music.
