1001 Albums Summary

I wouldn't consider myself a particularly big Queen fan, outside of their bigger hits, but even with my general apathy for the rock opera genre, I have to admit Queen is still one of the most impressive bands of all time. The songs dance between silly, fun, and somber, and are enjoyable in almost any setting. With anyone else I'd rate it lower, but Queen is just that good.

Very interesting album, I haven't heard of this act before. It was an experience. The first song was an instant hook, really feeling like a rock song with jazz, blues, and electro music. The rest of the album felt pretty tonally different, and each song was pretty damn long. I really did enjoy it, even with not knowing at all what happened next. 4/5

So much repetition and just looped sound effects not my cup of tea at all.

I listened to the Songs of Leonard Cohen, and i admit most of the songs werent really for me. Even with that, I can clearly see how talented he is as a song writer and singer, and I don't like knocking things for not fitting in my personal taste. Looking it up, this was a very early career album for him, and id be curious to see how he evolves as an artist. if 1001 albums let me do half stars id do 3.5, but given they dont ill round up to 4/5

I am almost always a fan of garage rock and alt rock, but for some reason this album just wasn't for me. It felt disjointed and even thought it was only 40 minutes, somehow felt far longer. To the point that that until i looked and saw its length, I assumed it was well over an hour. I'm sure there are plenty of people that like this album, and I like other songs from the White Stripes, but for me the one or two songs I did enjoy on this album don't save it from how much I don't like the rest of it.

Todays album was 1984 by Van Halen. I will always wonder why in an album with two of the most famous 80s songs ever, Jump and Panama, he/the studio decided to make a minute long techno song the featured track, but you do you Van. Easy 5/5. tbh the rest of the 9 songs could be complete crap and this album is deserving of at least a 4/5, but two iconic songs are supported quality songs that differ enough to feel unique while feeling cohesive. It's notable that of my albums so far, its the shortest at only just over 33 minutes across all 9 songs. Fun rock synth music, right up my alley and I loved it 5/5

Maverick A Strike by Finley quaye. I have no idea how to rate this album. On one hand. It’s clearly good music, it’s fun and makes me smile while listening, especially because it’s a white Scottish/British guy doing a damn good job at reggae music. There are a few songs I’d ever put on my liked songs list. That being said, it’s not within the music I usually like, and it does just a bit feel like he’s missing the “impact” that Caribbean and Southern US reggae artists have. 4/5 I guess but truly this could go anywhere from 2.5/5 to 5/5

This album feels like a great representation of art over commercial success. While there were only a few songs I could truly say I liked and would listen too regularly, it is clear how much of his own passion and life Iggy put into this album. The song Turn Blue is a perfect example, because while I found it rough to fully get through, it's obvious how much of his soul he put into it. I wish I could give this album a higher score, but so many of the songs were... rough to get through.

this was an interesting album. very vibey with no lyrics until the last song, which was very religious, but in the "i hope all relgions can live in peace" kinda way. overall very good, but not my prefered style, 3.5/5 if i could, but bc i cant, 3/5. I liked it.

Not bad but nothing really stuck out. Felt a bit raw and like a different genre, which makes sense given the band switched from folk to rock for this album
