I liked sweet talking woman and jungle, and did not like it’s over. i was reminded of the beatles towards the beginning. Not my usual kind of music but some fun stuff happening.
A nice listen, I didn’t connect with it in a strong way.
Mostly very chill songs, but to be completely honest, I generally didn’t enjoy the sound of the singing voices together. The only sound I can say I truly enjoyed is the last, Everybody I Love You.
One of my favorite albums from the project so far! I finally truly connected with this record. Faves are Introduction, and Hazy Jane I and II
Listening to this made me realize why I’ve never understood the obsession with the Beatles. I like their instrumentals a lot and even the melody of the song, but I really dislike the quality of their singing voices. However, I still enjoyed listening to this more than expected. I pretty much always enjoyed the backing music, and on Roll Over Beethoven, I liked the way the entire song came together. After learning it was a cover, I listened to the original, and I don’t think the Beatles did any better than the original.
This album was a fun listening experience. I like the second half better, which is describes as experimental and psychedelic. My favorite song was Funny How Love is.
Possibly my favorite album i’ve reviewed so far! I felt super creatively inspired listening to these songs. I had listened to Rio and Hungry like the Wolf countless times in my life, my parents are big fans. But I also loved Lonely in Your Nightmare, Hold Back the Rain, and The Chauffeur. I can definitely see myself being in the mood to relisten to this album all the way through.
I didn’t connect to this music, but I didn’t dislike it. Favorites were 15 step, weird fishes/arpeggi, and jogsaw falling into place. I would like to give it a couple more tries later since I like a couple radiohead songs and the genre.
Some of the songs make me laugh or had good instrumentals, but mostly I would have to be in a very specific mood to want to listen to this again. More like 2.5, but can’t give it a full 3 stars.
This album was super cool, even as someone who doesn’t gravitate towards instrumental music. Some of the sections were a bit grating on the ear, but overall it was a pleasant listening experience. My favorites were Penguin Cafe Single, Zopf: From the Colonies, and The Sound of Someone You Love…. Bonus, I listened to some of their other songs and found several gems: Lifeboat (Lovers Rock), Music for a Found Harmonica, and In the Back of a Taxi
My twelfth album and first by a female lead! Also an incredible work that is easily my favorite by far. When i think about connecting with music, this is exactly what i want to feel. Chain of fools feels exactly like relationships of my past. All of these songs were so full of emotion to get me through a little bit of friendship turmoil recently.
I didn’t listen to the whole thing. While I appreciate this as a countercultural and conceptual work, it’s just not for me.
This was funky, ranging from unpleasant listening to interesting and cool. Given that it came out in 1967, I can see how it would have been revolutionary and led the way towards how modern music sounds. However, I wouldn’t choose to listen again.
I love Fiona Apple so I was pretty biased going in. I already loved Under The Table. Listening to the entire album and thinking about the themes of being trapped and restricted was so thought provoking and emotional. The sequence of Cosmonauts, For Her, and Drumset was my highlight of the album. I want you to love me is a fantastic opener as well. Perfectly captures the rage and insecurity of living life as a woman.
Born in the USA is a fabulous album opener. I really like the way this album highlights both the beauty of American life and the issues with the American nation. It also feels like it covers growing up and learning how to experience your emotions. I loved Cover Me,Im on Fire, No Surrender, Glory Days, and Dancing in the Dark. While there were some songs I didn’t personally relate to, I still got the story. Also, Bruce Springsteen is incredible and performed for us at No Kings Minneapolis March 2026. 5 stars album, 5 stars guy.
I liked You can Make It If You Try, a couple were repetitive. Overall some fun and interesting music, but I probably wouldn’t listen to the whole thing again. Surprisingly, I liked some of the instrumentals the best!
I would say there are pieces of this album I like, but I don’t love the whole. Most of the songs were weirdly short, and it’s not that I wanted more of them, I just want them to go somewhere that they never did.
This album clearly has a lot of lyrical depth that I think would require multiple listening sessions to fully appreciate. I like the moody-ness, but it’s not super melodic, so I would have to be in a certain mood to listen again, but I can imagine that happening! Not a good or bad thing, but the way he speaks instead of sings and makes a lot of metaphors reminds me of Bob Dylan.
