1001 Albums Summary

3.75. This album was incredibly formative. I still know all the words off by heart; and still find myself moved by the thrashy and reckless way these songs were presented.

I know I am supposed to like Prince; but this was such an emotionless drag on my soul. I would rather repair drywall than be bothered by the annoyance of the a truly dated sounding album, with blithering misfiring of sex appeal.

Enjoy the song writing, and crafty pop interplay along with the political themes; but can’t say I felt particularly moved by the music as a whole.

I wanted to like this album based on the cover art alone. I like punk. I love metal! This just sounds like unrehearsed noise. Its only redeeming quality was how short the songs and album were for my own sake.

Surprised by my enjoyment of “Early Elvis,” upon a more considerate listen, despite the passing common familiarity. Simple, stripped down, and resonant of a simpler time. Still would probably never purposefully listen to again.

Dig the live feel, the energy, the cascading guitar work, and tight AF rhythm section. Can see why it’s a classic album.

I’ve listened to this album probably 50 times while doing the dishes or folding socks; and loved the listen. I am so grateful to have had this generator to allow me the space for sitting my ass down with headphones on. I am smitten;…and can only ponder how great the Beatles could have been despite their singular parts. I love this album. I am happy it exists. My first 5/5.

The music is fine. The instrumentation and arrangements are also fine! The singer and the lyrics leave me ambivalent to the album as a whole.
