1001 Albums Summary

One of those albums where despite not being a fan I somehow know most of these songs? I expect that'll be a common thread for many of these classics. MELLOW/VIBEY/CHILL/COOL/NINETIES

Enjoyable little romp! I'm a little stoned but I felt transported back to another time. Not my usual vibe but I understand why it's so beloved to people. TWANGY/CLASSIC/GOOD TIME/JUKEBOX/BYGONE ERAS

The torturous soundtrack assaulting teenagers working at the mall for fifty years on. 'She's Always A Woman' will forever be burned into my brain in the most horrible way. Anyway a bunch of curiously jaunty tunes about relationships imploding and Billy Joel being weird about women. Mostly hated it start to finish! I didn't realize how much Jake Shears is indebted to him in terms of vocal quirks, that much was interesting I suppose. CORNY/ANNOYING/FADED/GROCERY STORE SOUNDTRACK/OLDIES

I hate Wild World and it's the best song on the album so that tells you everything you need to know. TRITE/MONOTONOUS/OLD DUDES YAPPING/BORING/ONE-DIMENSIONAL

Imagine how many times I've heard that song in my life. CLASSIC/CHEESE/HIPPIE ADJACENT/KUMBAYA/THAT ONE GUY YOU HATE'S FAVOURITE ALBUM

Huge fan and this is widely considered their darkest output (and one of the best as well). It's doom and gloom start to finish, a front row seat to depression and self destruction. I always wondered why they titled it Pornography when there's hardly a hint of any eroticism or sensuality present. Maybe it's referencing the obscenity of excess, drowning your mental health issues with drink and drugs? In any case it's an amazing album.

Ummm to be honest I kinda zoned out while listening. It's not really my kinda vibe but it wasn't unpleasant. I don't care for the vocals very much, is someone going to beat me up for that? PROGESSIVE ROCK/DAD ROCK/SPACE ROCK OPERA(?)/20 MIN SONG

Nice! I liked it. Reminds me working for Indigo (shudder) but nothing against Mr. Davis of course. SWANKY/CHILL/VIBEY/SOULFUL/RELAXING

Talking Heads is one of those bands that always existed in the peripheries of my life but I never sat down and explored much. This was good! I liked it a lot, and makes sense given I enjoy many of their contemporaries of the time. I will explore more on my own eventually.
