There's some great music in here, the title track for one, but as a whole it just does not have even close to the same emotional resonance that Pet Sounds has for me. Maybe it's unfair to compare this to one of the most beautiful moving albums of all time but this is my review and they are both Beach Boys albums so here we are. Also A Day in the Life of a Tree sucks and I do not like it at all.

My father-in-law is a musician. He is insanely gifted. We were listening to Steely Dan together years ago and I asked him why no one makes music like that anymore. I will never forget his answer... "We can't, we don't know how to do it."

A masterpiece honestly. Phenomenal storytelling and songwriting that's funny, relatable, and just sounds damn good. Everything just works. The concept is so fascinating and I've never seen anything done like it before.
