Classic album which probably loses a bit of oomph because it's a classic.
feels a little front-loaded but again thats probably Because enter the sandman is so iconic
I like the album though 👍
classic but like in the burger kind of way
like its good i can see them using these songs as background music in a movie
like a good ham sandwich, its just good
i lose a little interest towards the end of the album, but overall i think its a strong album experience (I just don't like the songs individually)
incredible piece of work, i like that the album starts so strongly bc it really does just prepare you for what youre about to hear
smells like teen spirit doesn't overshadow the rest of the album as much as I thought it would, there are some really heavy hitters further on
i'm amazed how the songs can all sound different while still feeling like theyre from the same album
band lives up to their name, i think the song names are strange but i don't think thats a bad thing
i like the funk/rock fusion thing they've got going on, the long songs actually don't feel too long and definitely dont overstay their welcome
album composition is good too but I don't think this one is a 5/5, maggot brain is a good ending but isnt the intended ending
the album isnt super coherent, which gives it its own identity as a Jimi Hendrix album, and prevents songs from feeling too samey. I think its unfortunately too long for me to give it a 5/5
i think a lot of these songs are like.. soft hits. if you like jimi hendrix then you'll love this album. i dont know how often i'd seek out these songs or this album but i wouldn't complain if i ended up listening to this album
im not a huge fan of longer songs, the fact i sat through a 10 minute song and a 13 minute song and didnt DNF is huge
these guys are on the middle of a sliding scale between the beach boys and the beatles i think
i just dont fw 60s rock that much, i like my rock a bit heavier
i like that each song is short but its a little samey. i would probably have these on a playlist for driving but i dont think theyre exactly my vibe. them being shorter songs makes me more likely to like them
3/5
unc still got it ?
i never really listen to bowie so i was looking forward to this, i dont think its fantastic but maybe thats because im not a bowiehead
i think the slower songs really aren't my style, so i like the start a lot more
i like that he kept the spirit of the era he was making music in, it sounds like an album that couldve released in the 1970s
i think the album is well constructed, idk if id listen to any of the songs but i would definitely vibe to this if it was on
i will always fuck with a marimba.
okay so i gather this album was experimental, i think blue orchid is quite a good opener, but i dont think it matches the rest of the alnum as much.
this definitely feels experimental, i dont think every song hits but i think the music itself is good. rating an experimental album is tough bc i feel like the focus was more on throwing things at the wall and seeing what sticks. as a result you end up with an album that kind of curves left and right and occasionally hits right down the middle
i think the fact that blue orchid and instinct blues are the best songs on the album really speaks to the fact that they didnt Need to experiment really. as much as i love the marimba in The Nurse, i dont think the rest of the album is all that special
Probably a true 2.5 album, but I fuck with putting a marimba in a rock album and I appreciate that this was experimental so I'm giving it a 3
I'm sorry I cannot listen to a 2 hour long album it pisses me off
Feels like classic rock, but like Classic (i know its Glam and Post Punk). Feels like it really fits into the decade, and I'm sure it's inspired some music I really like
It feels kind of like an evolution of the Beatles, especially songs like Lonely Planet Boy.
There's definitely a range in the songs, but I actually really like how the album varies
Would definitely listen to this again
I haven't consciously listened to the Carpenters before but there's a lot of songs on here I've heard before. Definitely a classic sound.
I would listen to these songs again in a lounging context, I think its really good at what its doing. The music is so fun and lively and the vocals are nice and soft
Love the sound of this album. I have some sentimental attachment to this album but I also just think it's really solid
I like Arabian Knights a lot, but Monitor and ofc Spellbound are up there too. I don't listen to a lot of this kind of music but something about this album just scratches an itch in my brain
Really big fan of this album's sound. I like the melancholic vibe I fw melancholic rock. I think I would listen to this again it feels like something I would've loved as a teenager so its a shame I've only discovered it now. I think Mayonnaise is my favourite but given a re-listen it might change
its alright, I think it feels pretty standard and I don't really like the mix of songs on this album. Prob a 2.5 but I'll round up
I liked this album a lot. I love a short album but this felt more like one piece of music which was released as an album. Not necessarily a bad thing but idk if an album it makes.
Feels like ambient video game waiting area music. Wouldn't listen often but I wouldn't complain if it was on in the background while I did some meaningless tasks or played a minigame
This one is kind of another ham sandwich album. It's okay but nothing really stands out to me.
Can definitely feel the musical theatre inspiration, it was an okay listen but I won't be listening again I don't think
I like the sound of this album but I think overall it doesn't really grip me. Some of the lyrics are cheesy in a way that is fun. I think the album is let down by some songs (like "Invaders). The songs do sound fun to play but just not my thing
I liked this one. Bob Dylan has a pretty distinct style that comes through. I think a lot of the songs blended together so maybe that lowered my opinion of the album but I think it all sounded good. There was a vibe that was maintained and I appreciate that.
Honeslty a fun little album. I like the sound and how it feels like theyre just playing what they want to play in the moment. I think Riddle of the Eighties captured me more than the rest of the songs but I think this was a good album.
This one was okay, it feels pretty standard. Not bad but nothing stood out to me
its kinda crazy that the song "London Calling" convinced me I didnt like The Clash. I think this album is pretty alright, I like Spanish Bombs a lot and I feel like a lot of their music leans More into Ska than the average british punk fan would like. If I was big into punk I probably wouldn't like this album as much but I think its pretty fun
I love how authentic this is. The rapport between Cash and the inmates is fun and I think he does a good job making this live recording fun (I don't usually like those). Crazy he did a bunch of prison shows, I didnt know that.
Also the songs are really good I like it
funny to listen to these songs after his public image has shifted so much in the 30 years since it was released.
aint no fun is a funny opening. i think this album is unironically pretty good its just freaky, doggy dogg world is my favourite. I think this album gets stronger as it goes on.
prob a 3.5 but im rounding down
I think some of these songs don't fit his voice. I like the album and the music but I'm not a huge fan of the sing-speaking he does sometimes. I'm biased bc I love Harvest Moon and that style of song. I like the passion in his voice but it just doesn't do it for me
the fact this was recorded live is so funny bc i cant imagine sitting down to listen to this in a concert hall. "WANT SOME MORE MUSIC" into nutrocker is comical
Brian Wilson is a genius
big fan of this one
