1001 Albums Summary

90s hopefulness crossed with cadences of ELO and the haunting vocals of the 00s and beyond. Alex G and the sad, sultry sausages of today's indie scene can thank albums like this. Elliott Smith ran so the rest could walk. Sometimes all it takes is a guitar, ironically cheery accompaniment, a troubled voice and some fantastic production to make an orchestra. 8/10

Erykah Badu's modern competition. Hard to believe this album's a decade old.

Classic tracks throughout and undoubtedly influential as hell. But the filler on this album is of its time and has aged badly. I love you hendrix but the drugs were better back then and I'm not feeling the middle of this album. In reality it's a 7/10 but for the purpose of must listen albums, it has to rank low

Not maiden's greatest imo but latter half of this album is iconic

Must listen for pretty much anyone even though it might not be for everyone. Texture baby, texture

If Portishead - Dummy is Nigella Lawson, Fetch the Boltcutters is a hobo under a bridge with a crack spoon. Can see why this is highly commended and the second half of the album almost pulled it back for me, but sometimes you just need to concede when a record simply isn't your cuppa tea.

Beautifully dense, timelessly classy. Title is worthwhile
