I see and appreciate the beauty of the lyricism and honesty but I can't quite seem the get there with Joni Mitchell. At times I feel each song has the same pattern and theme of her extending every word with a high pitched ooo to an annoying point. But when the songs themselves have such a strong personality this adds rather than distracts, which is why her best songs are so immense.

Good Night first listening experience was heavenly and wasn't expecting much after revolution 9. Defo some not my taste. Surprisingly loved Yer Blues? Insane track 7 to 11 run. My Guitar Gently Weeps and I Will still on top.

Turn your lights down low is a banger wow. For what this album is it’s perfect. No notes. This is not my normal kind of music but that of course is completely unrelated to the merit of the album. The famous ones are genius but can tend to get bored of them.
Listen in Barbados.

Playlist track: I Feel So Good

Listen when: Reading a book in the evening in a candlelit room
I LOVE LIVE ALBUMS. I Feel So Good best hands down. Imagine being in that room wow. Feels like a genuine blues 44 minute 41 second experience. (Goodbye Newport Blues honourable mention). 4/5 because listening beginning to end can get a bit monotonous as they all really do sound the same. Also not sure it's something I would listen to every day.

Playlist track: Comin' Back to Me
Date listened: 5-6/06/26

Took me a while to get through for sure. I couldn't get into it and was mostly attracted to the slower tracks which I think are beautiful.

Date listened: 6-7/06/26

Oh isn't it wonderful. Took a couple listens to get to 5 stars but it gets deeper the more you listen, every song has a purpose for the album. Has to have the most insane album opening of Five Years of all time. Space theme still there throughout hell yeah. Let all the children boogie truly.

Playlist track: La Cienega just Smiled
Date listened: 9/06/26
Listen when: Can't think when I would honestly
A few songs and it gets a bit jarring sorry. The best parts of the album are 100% thanks to the intermittent string arrangements, which is why La Cienega Just Smiled made the playlist. Otherwise the singing along is pretty tough.

Guitar is immaculate throughout. Sooo Dad rock core. I really do have to be in a certain mood for it before it becomes too much.

Too metal-ly for me unfortunately but can appreciate the attempt to make it more consumable for the masses. But attempt it remains.

I thought I disliked reggae then I listened to Bob Marley's Exodus and felt converted because it was way more dynamic and different sounding from song to song than I thought. However this album disappointed me off of that but that's not the album's fault necessarily, it's mine for thinking I like reggae now.

I love the feeling of this album, which reminded me of so many other artists. So interesting to read this was the blueprint for them!

Playlist track: The Nightfly
Date listened: 15/06/26
Listen when: Evening listen on record player
Not a super popular album but I really love his sound and addition of fun little things like the radio references in the Nightfly. Just the right length and range of sound while keeping the same tone for the album which I appreciate.. It's hard to pick a time to listen to an album which changes vibe so drastically.
