Back To Black by Amy Winehouse
Jun 23 2026

A potentially perfect album. A classic in both the public and personal canon. It sounds entirely familiar while being completely unique. My favorite track is likely Tears Dry On Their Own, with the hidden melancholy of Rehab a close second.

In Utero by Nirvana
Jun 24 2026

OK honestly, can barely finish listening. It's Nirvana. It's great for what it is but it isn't for me. This is the follow-up to Nevermind and it's not as good. Heart Shaped Box is the best song, but I've always found the concept of the song to be confusing. This album sounds noisier (in a bad way) and less....real? than Nevermind does. Also, the song 'Rape Me' is a perennial track-to-avoid. Next.

Nevermind by Nirvana
Jun 25 2026

Of the Nirvana albums, this is the best. It's both noisy and narrative, the songs are fun and dancey despite the grunge. Far superior to In Utero, in my honest opinion. Some true bangers within.

A Girl Called Dusty by Dusty Springfield
Jun 26 2026

This album is beautiful and iconic. I didn't expect it to be as full of hits as it was. 'Don't You Know' was a new delight, and 'You Don't Own Me' is iconic. This music stands the test of time and feels as fresh and relevant as ever.

Blue by Joni Mitchell
Jun 29 2026

Oh, I mean, goddamn. No choice but to give it a 5/5. It's iconic and heartwrenching. Why even listen, why trod that path?!

After The Gold Rush by Neil Young
Jul 06 2026

Truly, a surprise. I've always liked individual Neil Young songs and it's unclear to me why I never listened to more of his body of work. This album was beautiful, well composed and moving. I truly enjoyed it and have since listened several times.

Highway 61 Revisited by Bob Dylan
Jul 28 2026

Shockingly more rocky than would have anticipated. Also, very strong start.

Surf's Up by The Beach Boys
Jul 29 2026

Immediately psychedelic in an unsettling, creepy way. Perhaps musically masterful, but not nice to listen to. I can see why this music is historically relevant and interesting but it largely isn't for me. "Disney Girls" is a good, sad lamenting tune, and "Student Demonstration Time" is fun, punchy, and contemporary. The album definitely picks up in the middle and ends on sort of a typified, Beachy Boys note. Overall, note my favorite.

Court And Spark by Joni Mitchell
Aug 03 2026

Honestly, felt more soulful and mature than Blue in certain ways. This was a great forcing function to explore more Joni Mitchell, whose body of work is so deep that it can be difficult to know where to begin. This album is a great place.

The Score by Fugees
Aug 13 2026

This album fucking rocks?!! So many samples, so many absolutely great songs!!! I always knew the Fugees, but I wish I had known this album from a long time prior. An instant fave.
