Abraxas by Santana
Jul 09 2026

I’m wholly unfamiliar with Santana’s work, but being a jazz head and listening to this for the first time had me mesmerized. The layers, the fantastic guitar playing, those incredible vocals—god damn. Definitely listening to this one again.

Jul 10 2026

I think many point to this as one of the best live albums of all time, but really it’s just for my generation the most influential. I grew up with tracks from this playing the radio every single day, but never listened all the way through. In short, it’s good most of the time, great a select few times. God I love that Lead Belly cover though.

Master Of Puppets by Metallica
Jul 14 2026

Damn that shit’s good. I’m still more of a Death fan myself, but I get the Metallica love now.

The Genius Of Ray Charles by Ray Charles
Jul 15 2026

Ray Charles is an odd one for me. This album came out in ‘59 in one of jazz’s greatest years ever. But odd as it may sound, I wish there was more Ray Charles on this Ray Charles record. Hot take but a few tracks have him mixed way lower than he deserves for a solo album. Not my style of big band jazz, but it’s certainly good.

Synchronicity by The Police
Jul 16 2026

Wow. WOW. As a millennial, my only familiarity with The Police is terrible solo soft rock from Sting that flooded the radio. This is NOT that. It’s got groove, it’s got soul. It’s a great blend of pop, some prog rock, some funk and a lil somethin’ from Sting’s vocals that actually doesn’t feel grating for once.

War by U2
Jul 17 2026

Alright, this is the good shit. Love some deep and heavy pop surrounded by a narrative on war and violence.

Iron Maiden by Iron Maiden
Jul 20 2026

Eh. I mean. It’s alright. I think what takes me out of it the most tbh are the vocals/lyrics. The songwriting imo is just not at the same level as the technicality—which is still great.

Lost In The Dream by The War On Drugs
Jul 21 2026

Talk about a millennial blast from the past. Underrated as holy hell. Soaring vocals evocative of Bob Dylan, a wall of synth and distorted guitar sounds somewhere between MBV and M83. Throw in a bit of surf rock reminiscent of the Beach Boys, and you get something absolutely magical.

Juju by Siouxsie And The Banshees
Jul 22 2026

Eerie as fuck. Like if you went on a punk haunted house ride through a run down and dilapidated city street. Siouxsie’s vocals are one of the all-time greats imo. Still gives me shivers.

G. Love And Special Sauce by G. Love & Special Sauce
Jul 23 2026

Huh. I’ve never heard of this dude, and never heard his music before. But god damn is this catchy as hell. Not my fave, but definitely novel !

Jul 24 2026

Wow, I feel like a dumbass for this flying under my radar.

Guero by Beck
Jul 27 2026

Idk it’s like, ok. Not great, sorta good, but ultimately ok in the grand scheme of things. I like Beck’s avant-garde lyrics and songwriting for sure, but that’s about all.

Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers by Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers
Jul 28 2026

Hmm. It's alright and it admitedly has a great single in American Girl to end the album. But frankly? A bit generic as far as classic rock albums go. Nothing super stand out except for Tom Petty's singing which is admittedly fun.

Nick Of Time by Bonnie Raitt
Jul 31 2026

So. The title track is sorta good. Other than that, honestly idk what more I can say. This is a song that reminds me why there was a period when I was young that I thought 'country' was terrible. It's because albums like this and Kenny Chesney dominated the radios.

Exile On Main Street by The Rolling Stones
Aug 03 2026

I appreciate an album that really takes things back to basics a lil; especially one so heavily rooted in Blues. That being said, while I enjoy The Stones deconstructed, I think I actually prefer them at their peak like Let It Bleed. Still, a solid pick.

Melodrama by Lorde
Aug 04 2026

I've had a real lukewarm feeling towards Lorde for a minute now, and even less understanding as to why this album was so popular among ppl when it came out. That being said--if you can get past the fact that several of these songs feel like they're just more of the same 'white bi-girl blues' that was so popular in the late 2010s, the production is actually really well done.

Heroes by David Bowie
Aug 06 2026

This is a rough one. Like, the title track is a classic 100% no question there. But compared to the body of other work that Bowie has, this album as a whole falls real flat for me.

Technique by New Order
Aug 07 2026

This album exemplifies why finding new albums through something like this is so fun. I've known New Order. I'm familiar with their singles and their work (Power, Corruption, and Lies mostly). But this? This is a god damn romp. Is it kinda dated unlike their previous albums? Yes. Is it way more like a series of club jams than a New Order album? Also yes. But is it fun? Abso-fucking-lutely.

The Band by The Band
Aug 10 2026

Got some good--if questionable--singles. Like the instrumentation and this blend of blues & rock, but honestly Exile on Main Street does this blend better frankly.

You Are The Quarry by Morrissey
Aug 12 2026

Dude. What are we doing here. The best I can say is that the arrangements are competent. The songwriting might be some of the worst I've heard in a while. If I closed my eyes and listened to this again, I would presume it was a Weird Al album of Morrissey parodies.

The Holy Bible by Manic Street Preachers
Aug 13 2026

Holy shit. Where has this been all my life. It's not just the math rock vibes. It's not just the relevant lyrics about American imperialism and the decline of our empire. It's not just the prelude recordings at the beginning of each song. But for some reason. The confluence of these things have created something intensely special.

Physical Graffiti by Led Zeppelin
Aug 17 2026

Every time I listed to Zeppelin it's like a breath of fresh sea air washing over me. Classic, incredible, thick, nostalgic.

Aftermath by The Rolling Stones
Aug 18 2026

Good lord they were horny early on. Like. Uncomfortably horny.
