The Queen Is Dead by The Smiths
Jul 10 2026

I hadn't listened to this full album before, and only recognized one or two songs off of it. It has a good cohesive feel but none of the songs stood out to me. I could see how it would improve with familiarity, and I will revisit it.

Jul 13 2026

First time listening to this album all the way through. It starts out super strong with the first 3 songs all timeless radio classics. The album carries an ethereal atmosphere that feels effortlessly pertinent. The atmosphere is consistent through the remainder of the songs and the album definitely deserves more listens. I am not the biggest fan of Bono or his voice but the instrumentation on this record is confident and unique.

Fear Of Music by Talking Heads
Jul 14 2026

I haven't listened to this album in its entirety yet. It is very good. I had heard a handful of the songs before on the live Talking Heads vinyl I have, and I don't know if it's because I am already familiar, but I think I like the live versions better. Regardless, this album has a great experimental and funky feel and deserves more listens.

Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness by The Smashing Pumpkins
Jul 15 2026

Boy am I happy to have finished that seemingly endless "masterpiece". Sure, it presents a couple good songs that have been played ad nauseum on the radio, but everything else seems overcooked and comes off as conceited filler. Maybe it's the grating of Billy Corgans voice but I find myself irritated and maybe a little angry after having finished the album. I bet I'd enjoy it a little more if it were fully instrumental. Regardless they could have cut half the material from this album and it would be just as good, probably better. Giving it a 2/5 just for the radio hits. Also noting what a cringe album title it is; maybe it was more impactful in the 90s?

1984 by Van Halen
Jul 17 2026

I've never been the biggest fan of Van Halen, and my listen of this album confirms why. The poppy and glammy feel of the songs is not my style, and while the guitar work is impressive, it feels stale and outdated just like blues guitar. I can imagine it hitting harder upon its release in the 80s, but outside of the context of the 80s, it feels bland.

Mothership Connection by Parliament
Jul 20 2026

Super fly! Even though I barely ever listen to funk, I found this listened crisp and fresh despite its age. Cool to find out that dr dre used bits from star child. Awesome.

Murmur by R.E.M.
Jul 21 2026

I hadn't heard this album in its entirety yet. There were only a couple songs that I recognized, and the rest didn't really stand out. I can see how this album could grow on me with more listens for sure.

New Boots And Panties by Ian Dury
Jul 22 2026

It's alright and definitely of its time. Reminds me of Robert Wyatt and not as interesting. Could see how it has an influence on punk and other subculture through the 70s and 80s. Just not my jam.

Africa Brasil by Jorge Ben Jor
Jul 23 2026

Boom! It has been a while since I have dug into world music and this album is a straight banger. I've never heard of this artist but I can't wait to dig a little deeper into his music. This album is a grower and a show-er. Can't wait to dig in a little deeper.

Jul 24 2026

Bleh. I never really liked any of the hit songs on this album, but there are a lot. It has its time and place. Reminds me of dad playing music too loud on ski trips.

Jul 27 2026

Nothing on this album really stood out to me, and Take Me to the River is my least favorite talking heads song. Overall it probably deserves another listen, but I am gonna give it some time.

Hounds Of Love by Kate Bush
Jul 28 2026

This album definitely has a vibe. The only song I recognized was Running Up That Hill, and the rest of the album was very experimental and interesting. Definitely worth a revisit.

I wasn't a big fan of this. Seems like a band that would play a typical bar. I can definitely hear the musicianship but there is little to no appeal, and it feels super washed up. No thanks

Jul 30 2026

There was a time in my life when this music might have resonated a little more with me. In the stage I am in now this is a little too "dad rock" for my taste. However, there's no denying that it rocks and would be fun music to dance to. Just not my jam anymore.

School's Out by Alice Cooper
Jul 31 2026

Very cool album. Haven't ever heard the whole thing, and only had ever heard schools out. Definitely feels like a complete package, with lots of different instrumentation and style choices. Very classy as is expected for early rock n roll.

Pink Moon by Nick Drake
Aug 03 2026

I have heard this album once or twice before. Even so, it is clear this album is a grower and not a shower. The songs have a certain beauty to them that feels vintage. Not overly flashy in any sense. One that will take dozens more listens to appreciate.

Jagged Little Pill by Alanis Morissette
Aug 04 2026

First time listening to full album. Very familiar with all the radio hits and there's a lot. I like all the popular songs on this album and can see developing a taste for the flow of the songs. Not usually my cup of tea. Sounds great and makes me wanna take a road trip.

The Score by Fugees
Aug 05 2026

I never heard of Fugees before, but something rang a bell with a couple of their songs. Really good and chill music, worth diving into more.

American Gothic by David Ackles
Aug 06 2026

Weird shit and not my jam. Way too show tunes and jazzy for me.
