Much needed disco in my life. $10 says I'll hear a bit that's sampled that will drive me nuts for a week figuring out what it is.
That was okay. Film and TV have ruined "We are Family" unfortunately. I've been trying to break into more authentic disco and RnB and this is a good step in the right direction but not every song gripped me. Lost my $10.

Yeah... I think the biggest issue for me is the 80s butt-rock vocals. "Remember tomorrow" was easily my favorite track on the album purely because the vocals were much more "restrained" and melodic as opposed to the constant 80s high-energy gargle. The instrumental breaks were pretty good especially with the dual guitar solos (like in "Phantom of the Opera").
It's very clear to hear the prog-rock influence but it's masked by the mixing and screechier guitar and vocals.

Just Dance music.
I'm pretty torn on the vocals. I really like her voice and the background vocals in heart of glass but I'm not the biggest fan of the growling that she does in One way or another and at least once in every other song in the album. Instrumentation was fine but nothing super memorable, I like the organ.

Oh George... Top 4 Beatle for sure.
This is the first album I already had saved. Very long but still pretty great. Much of the album sounds pretty similar except for a few really cool black sheep (Art of dying, Johnny's Birthday, etc.). Lot of good easy-listenin' tracks in here. Big fan. Hard to pick favorites though, also hard to pick least favorites. Might be my favorite solo-act Beatle album.

Cool 60s sounds. The drums (specifically the cymbals) might be mixed a little louder than I would prefer but everything else is mixed very well. There are some fairly forgettable tracks in here back to back with some really cool stuff. Guitar solos played in reverse must've been fun to cook up in the studio.

I swear if the only reason this album is here is for Sympathy for the Devil I'm gonna vomit.
I really don't like Mr Stone's voice enough to listen to a recommend anyone else listen to a whole album... Even Factory Girl proves I wouldn't even like him in a more folky setting. Just not my cup of tea ig.

Clearly the poppiest album we've had yet. The mixing is way blown out, the percussion was all over the place. I can't imagine listening to this higher than 1/4 volume. The description in YT (probably pulled from wikipedia) says this drew inspiration from soul and pop from the 60s (which was fairly obvious) but is worse in almost every way. The last two tracks were maybe the least offensively mixed? The backing vocals were a nice change of pace. Weed song (EPIC!!!!).

I thought this was gonna be a racist album double feature after the first track. British rap man... Pretty rough. Every song no matter how tough it sounded I couldn't help but think of British rap memes. (https://youtu.be/Kw3y1LoUybI?is=N6Ka9Yfp63rajxYx). If the production was good I couldn't tell, every song sounds like a takedown/flex/diss track which sucks.

Yoooo British people double feature.
The mixing made it really hard to hear the vocalist 50% of the time. All of the Treble and mid tones felt like they souped up together. I thought my headphones were just being weird but even in my car I could barely distinguish the vocals from the instrumentation, maybe I'm just going deaf.
Overall it was pretty forgettable. 80s Brit-slop in the 90s. Post-punk is such a broad genre that comparing this to Joy Division and Talking Heads makes it seem like chump change.

I guess we're doing film scores now? It's the only album with the score tag on the list. It's weird that a band-composed score made it on the list but there are no film composers on the list no matter how contemporary or influential.
Not seeing a film but listening to it's score is pretty cursed but in a good way maybe? I'm not a trip-hop aficionado but I thought the album was fine. The light-motifs coming through were a bit repetitive at times but that's kinda the point of it accompanying a film. Halloween vibes.

Liked a few of the songs quite a lot, the others were fine. A good variety of 90's sounds though, I feel like a lot of grungy alt falls into generic sounding pits and only a quarter of this album really gave that vibe. Trying to hear the lyrics, I had my volume up way too loud on some songs and was probably getting genuine hearing damage so maybe the mixing could be improved on a couple tracks.

What a treat, getting Paranoid so soon. A few songs off of this album are overrepresented in media but I can't deny how exquisite the mixing on this album sounds. Very few things compare to how well it sounds in my ears. Mr. Sabbath's voice can feel a bit samey but I think it adds to the albums themes. An excellent record, definitely makes me want higher quality listening equipment. Eat your heart out Iron Maiden.
"My father-in-law is an audio engineer. We were listening to 70s rock/prog-rock together years ago and I asked him how we could properly mic a drum kit today like they did. I will never forget his answer… 'We can’t, we don’t know how to do it.'"

I need to be in a very particular mood for acid-rock and Saturday wasn't really that vibe. I know under different circumstances I would probably enjoy it more. Overall a pretty cool concept album. The first half is pretty wizard but on first listen I didn't get to listen to it all the way through so it felt really weird jumping back in after not listening to it for an hour.

Pretty generic sounding rock but the mixing is nice. A whole lotta 1s turn into 2s or even 3s just by mixing well. However, it didn't save this one too much. If every song on a rock album is going to be a high-energy head banger it gets really tiring. There was one song where he just said "YEAH" like 20 times in a row and it was kinda driving me nuts.

Pretty good, better than channel Orange. I haven't listened to a lot of Outkast so this was a good opportunity. I prefer the deeper vocalist (I think Big Boi?) to the twangier rapping (Andre 3000?). It's great hearing some rappers that can also sing very well. Most of the back tracking wasn't generic but not very memorable. B.O.B. easily stole the show for me.

I know this came out in '91 but a lot of tracks feel very 80s (in a negative way). Out of the list of prolific grunge artists, I tend to rank Pearl Jam lower than most. Mr. Jam's voice gets pretty old while listening to a full album. I find myself gravitating more to the slower, more drawn-out tracks potentially just because they're a break from the energy.
