1001 Albums Summary

The Beatles are one of the few bands that even a non trained ear can pick out the contributions of each member. A plus pop rock album, doesn’t get five because there are some meh songs but otherwise it’s perfect.

Love this era of the police, polished enough to produce a song like walking on the moon, but still has that local ska/reggae/punk sound. Doesn’t get a 5 as there are not enough iconic songs and there is a skip or 2.

The influence this one generated is thick. I hear elements of Radiohead and a ton of other emo leaning art/alt rock. With that said some of the songs drone on way longer than they should. Big fan of the creepy spider man song

The best Elvis album. Really want to give it 5 stars but reserving that for undeniable, no skips, world changing etc type of albums. Elvis in Memphis transports you to I guess Memphis in the 70s. You feel the vibe throughout & can’t deny suspicious minds, that bitch slaps.

Perfect album. Not a bad song (even smells like teen spirit still slaps). The most underrated element of Nevermind is its whimsicalness. In bloom, genuinely a hilarious bit about the worst people in the world rocking out to songs written about how much they suck. The joke doesn’t work post internet sadly.

Meh, got some bangers, but the rest is fillers. Can’t deny the talent, but when compared to the other “greatest” albums it lacks a bit. With that said, natural woman and earth moves both reach epic levels of slap.

Nothing wrong with this one. Beautiful harmonies, transports you to another time and place but still somehow timeless.

No notes. Maybe the greatest rap album ever. I can’t think of an album that transports you to a place and time more effectively than illmatic.

Liked this one a lot, great vibes. Vaughn and the band captures the fact that music should be fun, it’s brought me back to New Orleans prev hall. Not to mention the whole experience oozes with soul.

To me this is the sister album of Dr John’s Gris Gris. Never heard it before, glad I did. The blend of US blues with I assume African plus other worldly music hits well for me.
