1001 Albums Summary

Rich, eclectic, interesting textures.

Some golden heavyweight oldies which were pleasant to revisit. Made me think of chewing tobacco in a wheatfield in the mid-west, strumming a guitar, with a whiskey in hand. I like the banjos. Overall the same mellow temperature throughout, save for a pleasant symphonic surprise on one of the tracks - but this felt like an unusual peak given the slightly undulating vibe of the album as a whole.

Talk about classic country sound, love the steel string guitars, love the upbeat feel of even the sad songs, with the straight to the point and/or the heart lyrics. Those clean harmonies and white gospel rockabilly feels. more innocent than Elvis but cheeky. Gorgeous nostalgia. Makes me want to listen to Hank Williams.

Smooth but surprisingly ho-hum for Gaye. Do I hear Gaye's influence on Jamiroquai via "A Funky Space Reincarnation"? This was cool. Otherwise...mmm eh.
