Back To Black by Amy Winehouse
Oct 06 2026

So, I get it, I understand why this album is on the list, it’s just not really my taste. I do like the rawness of her voice and I feel like the album could have been released in pretty much any decade and it would work. Coming in, I had heard Rehab and am not a huge fan of it. You Know I’m No Good and Tears Dry On Their Own were my favorites. Nothing was bad, but I cannot imagine listening to the album again.

Madman Across The Water by Elton John
Oct 07 2026

First off, no clue why people hear Tony Danza as an often misheard lyric. I was familiar with a few of the songs and can see that if this came on my music on random, I would probably not skip. The combination of Taupins lyrics and Elton’s voice and piano is easily recognizable. I did find myself enjoying the songs I had not heard. This is where I wish I could give half step ratings as this is really a 3.5 for me. Madman Across the Water was my favorite song and had elements of other genres with a hint of prog.

Get Behind Me Satan by The White Stripes
Oct 08 2026

Rhyming game is spot on; not sure that’s a good thing. Honestly didn’t dislike anything, but also nothing stood out to me. Doubt I would listen to this again but it is not horrible.

Odelay by Beck

Have to rate a 2.5; better than Amy Winhouse but worse than Beck. Just really boring.

Illinois by Sufjan Stevens
Oct 13 2026

I had always heard of the album but never really listened to it as it really isn’t my thing. I was surprised as it really was a well done album. I also discovered the son John Wayne Gacy, Jr which is just haunting. I think this is a straight up 3

Everything Must Go by Manic Street Preachers
Oct 14 2026

Thinking maybe a little better than the Beck album so giving the same rating.

The Cars by The Cars
Oct 15 2026

Literally only one song I don’t care for, I’m in Touch With Your World. I am struggling where to put this album though. I don’t think I can put it at a 5 but it is a super solid album and is in my listening wheelhouse. Think I will call this an 8.7

Not really understanding why this is on the list. Not bad for background music but very repetitive. I don’t mind electronic music but I feel there are better albums that represent
