A good record, easily the fourth record by this band.
This isn't Miles but it's still good. Track 1: Jazz song. BB is charismatic and has a great voice. Track 2: Jazz song, but good stuff, more my thing. Very 'Barfly' with Mickey Rourke. Tells the story of how he wanted something but got something different. Lots of audience screaming. Track 3: These are simple and relatable songs but very formulaic. Of course, the formula was more or less perfected here. Some WICKED guitar at about 3:00. Track 4: Big hand for the other musicians, very considerate. A song about how women are bad. Track 5: Nice Dick Dale-esque start. Can't understand what he's saying, probably about how women are bad. Track 6: Greatest Hits of Paul Shaffer and the CBS Orchestra. Women = bad. Track 7: This is like being trapped in a Scorsese movie. We follow the guy from 'Home Alone' as he walks through a casino and then shanks a guy. Track 8: This dude doesn't have a lot of luck with the ladies. Track 9: This sounds a lot like something I heard a few tracks back. Track 10: Actually good, my favourite track of the record. Reminds me of 'Down In The Hole'.
Cohen is good when you first encounter him but like Nick Cave, I've kind of grown tired of his schtick.
