It Takes A Nation Of Millions To Hold Us Back
Public Enemy
While I appreciate the album's main message, the message is somewhat blurred by songs seemingly about their dj and other musical guests. The sound design is out there, but that is obviously by design, and I like that they were pushing the boundaries even then. It is a bit of a weird experience listening to a song about bass while the bass is a bit lacking, but I get the impression that that is a sign of the times. I think I need to listen to it again to appreciate it more, maybe on some bass-forward gear.

Could not believe it was actually recorded in a prison, sure enough it is and the resulting atmosphere is quite something

not at all what I was expecting after the first song, and while I can appreciate the artistic merit and experimentation, it's not for me, at least after a first listen

Smash
The Offspring
Of course, self esteem is a banger. Unfortunately, on first listen, no other song comes even close to the coherence and catchy-ness of the hit. The narrator did not seem to fit the theme, which may have been intentional, but it was still a bit jarring.
I like some punk rock, but I do not see myself going back to the offspring any time soon.
The hidden track was nice, though

My Generation
The Who
old school rock and roll, with my generation as a stand out track. I don't think it's a miracle that that's the only hot from this album. otherwise perfectly enjoyable, but not really remarkable
