Murder Ballads
Nick Cave & The Bad SeedsThis is one of the weirdest things I've listened to in years.
This is one of the weirdest things I've listened to in years.
This one is also terrific. I'm surprised Bert has never come up during the Nick Drake renaissance since they are cut from similar cloth. Lots of small instrumental interludes in between longer songs.
All timer.
I've never actual sat and listened to one of Jimi's albums from front to back. It's always been collections, best ofs, soundtracks, etc. I don't think I had heard a single one of these songs before and yet, the album was incredible front to back.
All timer.
Another classic.
It's a good album, but more mood music than a series of terrific songs. Will need to listen again but I found it fading into the background for me. Great mood piece.
Good chill music. Lyrics are excellent. Not my normal listening music but she's an absolute master songwriter.
Never heard this before. VERY reminiscent of the doors, but also somehow presaging new wave punk from the 80s.
Never heard this one before. It feels like someone tried to distill the sound of 60's rock into a single album. Every song could be on a movie soundtrack to set the period.
This one wasn't for me. I can hear how this album is a HUGE influence on many of the artist I like, but the lead vocals don't do it for me. A quality album that deserves to be on the list, but one I probably won't revisit.
What is there to say. Every song is a classic and Bowie was already a master at his craft by this point.
First Dylan album I’ve ever listened too. Still not a fan of his voice but the sound is iconic. Hard to separate a lifetime of his music being used as a set piece in movies from just enjoying it on its own.
Great album. Blur sort of personifies what was good about a lot of pop rock in that era.
This one was good. I've never heard The Lemonheads before but they seemed to lay the groundwork for a sound that was copied over and over again in the 90s
Very simple, just her and some guitar/banjo accompaniment. Really solid Appalachia sound.
Huge "Spiritualized" vibes on this one. Very chill listen.
Several all time classic songs. This is arguably their peak.
I cannot believe this band has existed for 50 years and I never heard them. This belongs up there with any of the baroque pop that was being produced in the 60s.

This might be the most recent reggae album I've ever listened to. Really deep grooves here.
This was good but unremarkable to me. I can't see myself seeking it out to listen to again. None of the songs truly caught me.
What is there to say?
Probably the first time I've listened to a Queen album front to back. This was much better than expected, more of a straight classic rock vibe with Queen's twist rather than something fully over the top.
Mostly unremarkable except for the single.
Really not into Christmas music, but in general this was OK because of the motown vibe and talent behind the music.
Incredible ambient piece from an artist I've never heard of before.
This was a surprise. I'm not a Van Halen fan at all, but had heard most of these songs. I had thought that all of these were from the mid 80s but knowing that this album was in 1978 shifts my perspective. They were ahead of their time. The "non-single" songs all had a more 70s rock vibe to them.
Tricky is a legend, but personally it would always choose a record from Massive Attack's catalog over his solo work.
Complete sleeper. Great mix of Folk/Funk that I had never heard of.
Somehow I had never sat and listened to this album. Really stands out from most R&B for me.
It is a crime that she never released another album.
I did not expect to hear Mike Love sing an ode to feet but here we are. This still holds up against other BB works but I don't think I'd choose it over Smile, Pet Sounds, or their early work.
This is like a full amalgam of boroque pop from the era. All the songs are good but it felt like they weren't sure who they wanted to be in the end.
This is one of the weirdest things I've listened to in years.
Bruce is singing funeral dirges for lost potential.
The album sort of died on the vine for me halfway through. The earlier songs that I hadn't heard before were good jams.
Pretty straightforward.
Pretty interesting 90's rock. Stone Roses-ish.
This guy does a hell of a Dylon impression.
