Very chill vibe. Had a few songs that had a good upbeat feeling to them.
It seems appropriate to play this while playing video games. I’m playing Lego Avengers with Guardians of the Galaxy. It ties to well with them. I’m not into jam rock really.
So far every song is good to listen to. The beat production is good. I forgot Q-tip is part of the group. He has good rhymes. I’m hoping the rest of the album is just as good.
I’m coming in with my bias that I don’t like the Beatles. So to listen to Paul McCartney’s band is going to be hard for me. It feels middle of the road. The reverb is throwing me off.
I’m not really into grunge, so it may be good for others, but not me.
I was surprised by how many songs I liked.

This sounds like punk like singing with synthesizers. It has one good song "Chips on my Shoulder". I don't think synth music is my jam.
From the first song, I already feel it's a jam band. I don't know how I feel about jam bands. It has the structure I think of jazz, giving each instrument its time to shine. I'm not into the long-form solos. My training to pop music wants me to have songs be short. Except for "Bohemian Rhapsody".
Okay. This is more my jam. I already know some of these songs because this is during college. I'm going to rank this high, but I doubt that I'll call this a high favorite. I'll need to listen to more MGMT.
Oh damn already with "Good Times". I'm into this disco. "A Warm Summer Night" is the right kind of slow sexy. The harmonies in this song is so good.
Avalanches has a few good songs in the mix. I do love the sampling in their songs. The right combinations make a song good. I love "A Different Feeling". I think I tend to like the more dance songs, which can be the less popular ones according to Spotify. I think they're good about creating an atmosphere in each song. "Tonight May Have to Last Me All My Life" has the feeling of a drunken speakeasy band playing at 4 am. They're good with pitch bending at irregular times and including the crackle like you're listening to a vinyl record. This feel like it takes a few listens to understand where The Avalanches are coming from in creating each song.
Now I don't like jam band music, where there is little structure and lulls to the music. This album seems to shape up as jam music, but at least the first song has a fast tempo, where you're supposed to get lost in the beat to dance.
I don’t like the vocalist’s singing. I know I like a few songs from them.
Even though I was thrown into listening to metal because of college roommates, I forgot how much I like this music. I think it helps this band is really good. I'm liking this album more than I thought I would.
They have this industrial sound that I'm used to with CSS.
It takes a bit to get into it, but I do appreciate the flip on its head approach to her crooning voice. It reminds me of this amalgamation of influences with Elvis, maybe Hank Williams
This album is definitely there for a specific mood. It feels like if you're feeling down, melancholic, or nostalgic, you would play this in the rain.
