Arcade Fire, One of my sons favourite bands, they are OK but don't see what the hype is about really. Pretty standard 2010's rock music here. I find it slightly repetitive and sub Talking Heads standard really.
I liked "Keep The Car Running" Not on My List I am afraid
Some Classics on this album N woman No Cry and
Lively up yourself are my favourites. Not as good an album as the later Live at the Lyceum which was his breakthrough Album in England certainly. Rightfully on this list though
Joni at her best, I love "The River", "A Case Of You" "The last Time I Saw Richard" and "This Flight Tonight" (Although I Do Prefer Dan McCafferty and Nazareths Version) A good choice of Joni Albums but My favourite Album of hers is definately Clouds.
Elton at his best, great album that is definitely in my top 20! "Benny and The Jets" "Goodbye Yellow Brick Road" & "Candle In The Wind" to name just three of the classics on this album. Love it and rightfully on this list in my opinion.
Great LP with some lovely meandering Jazz rock tunes. Love the "Gumbo Variations" and "It Must Be A Camel"
First time of Listening to this and quietly impressed.
Good Old Skool Hip Hop here, Interesting fusion of Kraftwerk/Krautrock
Loved "Planet Rock" 12" Version" & "They Made A Mistake". A good choice historically.
Not one for me I'm afraid, I see no reason for this to be on the list!
New one for me but a great post punk Album. I really liked its Dynamism, and the pure energy of this post punk power-pop classic. Has a touch of Elvis Costello and the attractions about it. loved "I Will Dare" (Great Bass-line) the Knack-like "Favourite Thing" The plaintive "Unsatisfied" and the Humorous "Gary's Got A Boner" are all quality tunes. A nice new experience for this listener and I will definitely look out for more Replacements stuff to add to my collection.
I prefer IV but this has some Great songs, the Classic "Immigrant Song" and "Gallows Pole" are both good songs. I also like the nod to another English Genius "Hats Off To (Roy) Harper.
A good album, reminds me of Tori Amos (or is it the other way round) a bit, or even a female Steve Forbert maybe? Some good tunes though and lyrically very strong I think. I Loved "Right Time" "Concrete & Barbed Wire" and the Title Track. all good in my eyes and ears!
Great Debut from Mark Knopfler and Co. Loved "Sultans Of Swing" when it came out and still do. "Down the Waterline" "Setting Me Up" and "Wild West End" all favourites. A good call for this list.
First time of Listening for me. Texas Blues at their best. Some good tunes on this one, Starts with the wonderful "Waiting For The Bus" with some great mouth iron work from Billy Gibbons. They moved away from this Blues based sound in the 80's which I think is a shame. Loved the aforementioned "Waitng For The Bus", "Jesus Just Left Chicago" "Le Grange" and "Hot, Blue and Righteous"
Not on my list but I understand its inclusion!
Some Classic songs from a classy band, The original line up with Eno is rather special, Love "Do The Strand" "Editions Of You" "In Every Home A Heartache" and the titular "For Your Pleasure" are great. Definitely on my list!
Great Album, My first ever 12" single was "Gloria in Excellsis Deo" CW "My Generation" what a great version which I think at least equals Van's original with "Them" and The "Who" version I am sure Townsend was pleased when he heard this revamp. Love it to bits. Absolutely right for this list my favourites the aforementioned "Gloria" "Redondo Beach" and "Break it up"
Not one for me, find it too ambient for my taste.
There she goes.... Great record
Some great Be-Bop on this album, great Sunday Morning music in my opinion. I love "Ba-Lue Bolivar Ba-Lues-Are" "Brilliant Cornbers" (which is a complex masterpiece in my opinion) and "Pannonica" which is a tribute to the "Jazz Baroness" Kathleen Annie Pannonica De Koenigswarter.
In fact I love all the tracks on this album. some great Bass riffs from Oscar Pettiford and also great drumwork from Max Roach. Love it and rightfully on this list.
Great 4th Album from El Ferarri and Roxy. Moving from Art House cult band to mainstream Rockers. I like "The Thrill Of It" the Nostalgic "Three and Nine" and the Banging "All I want Is You".
Not the Best album from the first round Roxy but it is a positive addition to this list.
Ah Martin Fry and his Steel City Electro-poppers, this is a good debut with some cracking tunes on it. I love both the "Look of Love" and "Poison Arrow" and a good all round debut. Interesting choice for this list and to be honest not on my list.
Her best work I think, some great songs on this a rightfully on the list. I love "All I really Want" "Ironic" and "You Oughta Know"
Great debut from a great band! love Thesingles from the Album but especially "Mardy Bum"
Well... The Star Spangled Banner .......Really! Take the A Train, a classic, Mood Indigo,,,wow,,, Great album at a time when he was a great. Sir Duke at his best. Love this.
It Is OK but not my Favourite DP Album I prefer the first Album.
The Only Gig I have ever walked out of! AC/DC at the Rainbow....To be fair the only reason I was there was because ex Mott the Hoople members were supporting as the British Lions!
