This is what happens when you give a bunch of hippies a load of instruments and some acid. This album is a really good snapshot of time. I wish I knew about this when I used to take acid. So, get high, take off all your clothes, put this on, and dance like a butterfly in a sunny meadow
Really good mix of styles. Excellent production.
This is about as good as an acoustic based album gets.
I forgot how good this is. It's one of the biggest selling albums of all time for a reason. Good, solid, rock and roll, with a mix of theatre
What's not to love about Aretha. One of the grearest
Another reason why the smiths still stand out as one of the best bands to grace th earth. Smiths at their best. There is a light that never goes out
Just brilliance. Bringing NYC hip hop in to the masses in the 80s. Paving the way for future generations. This is why.
Smooth like banana moose. This is a great album, nice and chilled and a unique sound. I saw the flaming lips earlier this year and it was a beautiful display of colour and sound. Check them out if you get a chance.
I remember when this came out and how quickly it grew on me. I tried to not like it because I was all about thrash metal back then, but I couldn't help it. For a debut album it sounded fresh edgy and completly rock and roll. They skyrocketed to fame soon after. Rightly so. Not sure they managed to produce anything as gritty as this afterwards though (except perhaps gnr lies)
So glad.this came up. I nevver get tired of this album. The stone roses pretty much defined the sounds of the 90s, and lead the way for the 'brit pop' (hate that word) movement. This album opened the flood gates so everyone else could follow. Psychedelic funky rock. Unique sound with attitude. Just brilliance

Beautiful blues by the master himself. A must hear album
Mad Syd Barret. Roger Waters. What more do you need? Pink Floyd's first incarnation is arguably the best. Leaders of psychedelic rock and we all know how they went on write and produce other great things (likely also on here). Nothing quite like this though.
Didn't listen but needed next album
When this came up I groaned. I'm so bored of Adele. However, once you've suffered 'rolling in the deep' again for the gazillionth time, this is actually a decent album. The girls got soul. Still bored of her though
Good solid rock and roll. It's long though.and they like lynars skynard it seems, which isn't a bad thing. Well worth a listen
This is ready one of my all time favorites. I remember when it came out and fnm were on top of the pops. Mike was mining terribly to out of nowhere. Off the back of that piss taking performance I bought this on vinyl and got tickets to rock city which I think was the next night. Not seen them since. Amazing live band. Amazing album. Got to love that slap base too
This album is full of classics you're bound to know. They are probably songs you do t even associate with Carol King. A true legend and an album worthy of this list
Classic Bruce. Although I do prefer some of his earlier albums
Janis Joplin. What more needs to be said !
Totally solid album from talking heads. Clearly a band whomlobed music, lobes to experiment with music and had great vision
This is brilliant. Musicians being brilliant at being musicians. And experimenting with sounds that really works. Todd's songwriting skills are fantastic too.
Not even sure where Manu is from. This album is an eclectic mash up of world music. Moving seamlessly from Latin to reggae to African styles. Nice. Worthy of the 1001 albums list
